First up, apologies for the error in Spelling Kyle's surname which correctly is Schneider, I missed the n in his name and have no idea how to correct the spelling.
Well that answers my question @Mitchy re: Jersey Flegg. It wasn't just a PDRL change, it was a NSWRL mandated change. I actually think it's a good one too.
Yes Brett it does. Sorry for noy answering earlier......
So who is Kyle Schneider?
Are we talking about the next Cam Smith who was reportedly let go by the Eels - if so how come he is now registered in U12s?
Found the fountain of youth and going to apply his accumulated knowledge in the junior, junior grades.
He wasn't let go by the Eels, he just wasn't offered an NRL contract this year. He is still at the club, he is still eligible for Jersey Flegg. The club still sees some ptential in him but jsut don't see him as being ready for the NRL quite yet.
Brett I also saw a tweet from the club about this information today and that they have offered him this position, so I read into it that the ball is in his court. I was surprised he was not offered a development spot, but maybe injuries? I know he was training with a small group a couple of yrs ago in preparation and am sure D Brown was in that group. Anyway time will tell as the club did think a lot of him.
He was on a development contract this year. It's telling that they didn't have one for him for 2021. Fogarty went the same way at the Titans though, and he is now undefeated in five games as their captain, so players can come back from being forced into part time footy.
If he had real NRL potential he would already be in the top 30 somewhere.
1998 Harry Grant, Reed Mahoney
1999 Sam Verrills
2000 Freddy Lussick, Kyle Schneider
It's great to have a good attitude and leadership and skill, but some players just don't have the natural combination of strength, speed and endurance to make it in the NRL, no matter how hard they work.
If the minimum physical requirements weren't so high, clubs would only sign players with good character and there would be zero dickheads in the game.
Some kids are late bloomers Pou, that was a major problem with the NYC, there was too much pressure on kids to be NRL ready by age 20. For the majority who didn't progress automatically to their club's NRL roster there was the feeling they had failed.
Just because he isn't NRL ready now doesn't he won't ever be, and if it is purely down to physical maturity then he's worthwhile holding onto for a few more years to see if he fills out.
Ryan Papenhuysen's emergence this year is proof of that. He's already 22.
BTW, there will always be dickheads in the game.
Good point.
