What we need for a premiership

I don't think we need much.1. A good attacking assistant coach2. A good starting prop to complement Mannah3. DCE or equivalent talented half and leader4. Player retention of our best players and juniorsThis is doable - not for 2015 but in the next few yearsUntil then if we can make the finals we are always in with an outside chance

  • I dont think we need an attacking coach at all. We need a defensive coach and we need an offloading forward.
  • IMO if the club wants to ensure long term success The club needs to overhaul the recruitment and retention strategies at the club to ensure the club retains their talent and balances individual contracts over their playing terms by staggering star players and emerging talents contracts at different years would be first on agenda!
Agreed the club desperately needs a prop forward of some credibility With FFMM likely departure, Mannah does not have the aggressive attitude to lead these younger forwards coming through and dominate clubs with much bigger packs on his own!

    • Yes very Simple Mick, but easier said than done.

    • Kieran Foran and Adam Reynolds. That's who we need. We could get both of them for the same price as getting DCE.

  •  I TELL YOU WANT WE NEED WE NEED HELP AND EVERY CLUB LET US WIN THE PREMIERSHIP

    • OK PAUL

  • I hate hearing the "5 year plan" but I also don't believe Rome was built in a day. So point 4 should be the focus. We need to give the new guys time to develop. We've already seen improvement this season, we've got more good juniors coming through so I see us being a major threat the next couple of seasons. I'd hate to see more $$$ thrown at so-called stars....we already have too many over-paid players.

With regard to point 2. I thought that's why we bought Mossop...an international...unfortunately he must have heard of Aus being the welfare paradise.

  • 3.We need a smart playmaker. The souths game showed that more than any other.

    • Interesting that you mention Souths as an example. Have Souths paid $1M for a playmaker from another club? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they develop Sutton & Sandow from no where. Then when Sandow left they again developed a no-name in Reynolds....and now they are doing it again with Keary.

  • we need footballers, not just athletes.

we need leaders, not just hero worshipers (or god botherers)

    mau for captain
