What was wrong with Hayne?

I'm not asking why he had an off game, because i dont think he did at all. Just, did anyone notice he didn't seem to be having fun? I'm prediciting he was either injured or he's ill because he seemed very pale and constantly drinking water and huffing and puffing. As well, after his try he didn't have an excited reaction same with his near try. Usually he jumpes up pretty happily, that is when he isn't being a plane. I also think, despite some amazing plays, he was very quite. Not calling for the ball as much as usual and his statistics were below his average. What does everyone else think?

Besides all that, great win for parra :)

  • Yeah i had the feeeling that he was ill as well, as you said he looked pale and had a lack of energy. It could have been the best thing that happened to the team cause the rest of them had to step up and they did, although we were very poor in stages.
  • I agree, hopefully it isn't something to affect him for too long though. Great team performance for once, a few key players stepped up greatly. As long as we work on certain issues, i'm feeling confident.
  • i think he did cop a knock or 2 in the game 1 early on his leg an he was holding his hand/wrist at 1 stage an also had ice on his mellon at h/t
  • i noticed the hand as well, but then he kinda hit Mateo with it straight afterwards so that wouldn't have been too bad. I think as well he's been coping it very toughly the last 2 weeks because he was attended to at half time last week as well. Hopefully he'll hang in there
  • I think Robson and Keating were great together. Looked like they'd been playing side by side their whole lives. Hopefully Anthony Mitchell stays as well, he seemed to be a great confidence asset as well.

Gotta say im glad that things did finally start to go our way this year, few times i held my breath hoping the ball went out. And they did :)
  • i feel sorry for hayne, he carries so much pressure on his back. But i think it was a quiet game coz he was injured and maybe didnt want to do any more damage. Also keating n robson stepped up, awell as mateo and the debutant anthony micthell
  • Haynsey having a quite game....and the eels win a high pressure match!
FMD, Thats the best thing that can happen. The team has decided to pull their fingers out.

Against the roosters 2 weeks ago, I thought that he recieved no help from our wingers in cleanig up the short kicks.....tonights game just showed that the whole team put their hand up, hence the lesser workload and impact from Hayne. When he did inject himself into the game he was awesome as usual.

I see alot of positives here
  • I would leave the team as it is and play Mortimer at half in Wenty with Humble at 5/8, just so they can form a combination in the remaining games and for Morts to get some confidence back, Great game by the team last night. It gives me hope we can still make a charge for the Grand Final. KK, Mateo, Horo all played well as did Mitchell when he came on, sign him up and forget Piggy lets go with our juniors. As for Hayne he may have been quiet but it was his quality and injection when needed that won us the game.
  • i was happy to see Hayne in the support role, that try off the bomb was great because for once some one else set up the structure. Yes he needs to move up a bit in defence and preempt the opposition play better but hey it was great to see others like Mateo step up and allow Jarryd to chill a bit, as apposed to Inu, who was so chilled he was frozen at times...go figure this guy he is a head shaker

"I wouldn't call Da Silva a cancer. He was happy to stick with Wests if they provided him a plan post Api but Wests just said better off going now. He wanted to stay for 2026. I wouldn't call that cancerous."
