What’s the Deal with De Belin?

We’re down to a third rate squad, yet he’s still coming off the bench. Is he carrying something, or just not in favour at the moment?
He was brought in as a key signing and used to play big minutes at the Dragons ...  I know that doesn't count for much, but still.
Feels like he hasn’t really been given a proper run this yet. Did Ryles realise he bought a dud early in pre-season? If so, it’s starting to look like a pretty expensive miss.

  • I think the speed of the game this season is just too quick for him at his age, it's too quick for most players hence the blow out scores and higher than normal injury rate. There has been an attempt to eliminate the hip drop tackle over the past few seasons yet this season we are seeing more than ever, the game is too fast.

    • Is it just me or do the refs seem to be reining it in a bit with the 6 agains? Old mate looking after the raiders/storm game yesterday wasn't handing them out on the regular (as Corey Horsborough found out)

      • It does seem they are slowly dialing it back. The negative impact it has clearly had is over taking the positive impact the sped up version of the game was having.

Looking at it from the perspective of the V'Landys, I understand why he wants to speed up the game, personally, like most long time die hard fans,  i don't like it but I understand what his objective is.

He wants to increase the games revenue, you do that by increasing your fan base and appeal to a wider audience. Tries and flowing attack grabs the attention of new fans not stout defence which a new fan hasn't learnt to appreciate yet.

        It's all about the $.

        • True, but it only works if the existing base stays on the ride...proper footy folks saying they hate it but staying emotionally involved and watching anyway is why NRL gives no shits about those same people. Your opinion means nothing because they see you as rusted on & locked in....

We are hostage to our tribal support and the NRL is a dictatorial regime that has found that it can gain additional benefit by abusing the hostages an telling them it was done for them...to protect the game it has just trivialised into a stage managed product benefitting TV & Gambling concerns.

          • You're becoming very cynical Randy (that's a joke before you go flying off the deep end)

    • I've notice that. Compare yesterdays games to Rd 1 . Caulk and cheese

  • Same deal as Kelly and Pezet who were extremely keenly spotted by Eagle Eyes of Ryles, Brown, O'Neil and Satantinos to take the club into serious premiership contention and in 2026 it's all peaches and cream

    • Trojan Horse?

      • Like a Trojan horse...but we made it ourselves, stuffed it full of shit players and dragged it through our own gate.

        • I think he is referring to Malle57 Randy.
