What Is More Important???

What's more important...short term pain (1-3yrs) for long term gain (5+yrs) or seize the opportunity at this moment, and leave the future in leave the future in the hands of the Gods? This is the question I put to myself now for a few weeks and I believe short term gain is the way.Ricky himself has said that he wont rush in to any signings that may bring him success in the short term, instead he believes in the saying 'short term pain for long term gain'.I have to say his refusal to sign Dugan is a big mistake as he tries to stick to his word. Who knows in 3 yrs time with all the short term pain it will leave a mark in the minds of these young players his blooding. The reason i bring up this topic is im fearing the Bunnies, watching them last week was like fast forwarding x 2 a commercial break. They are bigger, faster, talented and most of all they are playing as a team for each other.Im fearing the score line could be in the 60+ range against us, and no matter how short term the pain it will have an effect on not only the new bloods but the whole team. Stuart should have bought Dugan, a talented rep player who also is a game breaker and has tons of spirit which can give a team a jolt. For all we know Parramatta Eels might not even be around as a single entity in 5+ years...What do you guys think?

  • Seize the opportunity now.

Short term pain never guarantees long term gain.

    • I agree 100% there are no gaurantees that they will be a success!
  • Dugan is a twat and a risk to team off field discipline. I'd hate him to wear our jersey. The fact that he hasn't been booted for this season is a joke. Great player but greater dickhead.
  • True but there's certain players I couldn't cheer for. Dugan, Ennis, to name a couple. Don't get me started about the fact we signed Chris Walker. That was akin to Mathew Newton dating my sister!
    • Fair enough. I don't think I could handle signing Matai.

      • Yeah he's another. I wanted to punch Dugan in the face last week. Not the fact he was scoring tries against us, more so what he did to Canberra, even taking into account the Papali saga.
        • theres more problems in canberra then dugan and papalii, they are in the same boat as parra, wests, warriors and the panthers are climbing out of there rutt

  • I wonder if these guys started with us would our opinions be different
    • Naturally I think mine would be different. Just the way it is I suppose. Parra have a lot of weaknesses at present but you can't fault our behavioral image. I'm always proud of this. I lost the respect of players like Tim Smith very quickly because they tarnished our image.
