What is acceptable and what is sacking worthy?

With a loss to Canberra bringing disaray in regards to derailing our season, a 1 win from 6 games to end the season is unlikely though plausible also. Dropping out of the top 4 is plausible though however with Souths and Manly's form being fantastic to this point. The question i am bringing up is what would you deem acceptable for Arthur this coming month and a half and what do you think the board deems as acceptable.

As for me if he gets top 4 or not is not a factor for as long as they make a prelim, if they make a prelim i will be more than thrilled to continue into 2022 with Arthur leading the way. With the only way this team advancing that deep into the semis is through mental development and a run of form to where Arthur has coached incredibly. However, finish top 4 and knocked out straight sets, or finish 5th or 6th and get knocked out first week is different. Top 4 could just save him even if we get knocked out straight sets, finishing 5th or 6th and going out first week could be it. Though what if they finish 5th or 6th and win in week 1 then knocked out following week, are we treating that differently having a finals win? or are we viewing it as we still hit the second week wall as we normally do excusing a finals win?

Another factor is if we do awfully into the semis and go out the back door, would the factor of not playing in Sydney factor into a decision if he is to be moved on? For me if Penrith, Melbourne, Souths and Manly do it ok, then that should not come into consideration to how we play, though finals could be different 5th and 6th finish and with COVID lockdown could be played out of CBUS on the Gold Coast which will effect any team not having majority of their own supporters in the stands.

I am not going to say what i think will happen, all i am mentioning is what should be the standard to which we treat the situation that could happen, now if i was to place money on it i think Arthur will survive though not by much with an extension being held back til after 2022, with Jim Sorentinos at the start of the year explaining that results of where we finish on the ladder and in the season will not effect Arthur's position at all. This was after rumours of them sounding out Flanagan, that could be smoke and mirrors to not distract Arthur. However, i doubt we will fall to 6th or even 5th, i believe we will finish minimum 4th and even if we get knocked out in week 2, despite me thinking they shouldn't they will let him see out the contract.

Though what do we accept? A prelim? top 4? finals win? nothing but a title?

  • A preliminary final is acceptable. However, we better give the team we verse in it a fight. Storm, Panthers and even maybe Manly have a better or more experienced roster.

  • Week 3 of the finals is the minimum.

If we limp home miss the 4 and bow out then if not sacked made clear that no contract renewal will happen

  • I've read this blog a dozen times in the past...what does it matter you have no say in the outcome get over yourself you're a fan you're not making any decisions

    • God get a grip mate, I didn't say I'm making decisions just love discussion

if you don't like it don't read it simple

  • Eels will lucky to get past the 1st week of the finals but I hope I'm wrong.

  • We need to beat storm, panthers, south's or Eagles in a finals game.

That would probably mean a preliminary final and give BA a chance to get a new 1-2 year contract depending on our start to 2022

    • We have to beat Cowboys and after their effort against the Storm, then thats not certain. When we look at some of theother sides build up for season 22 who have we signed that could improve us. SFA

  • I honestly believe that all this talk of PF and GF is pie in the sky stuff.
My opinion, and it's worth nothing , is that if we crash and burn at the end of this year, we should get the message loud and clear that the party is over and move in a different direction.
I reckon an approach to Flanagan would have already been made.

    • If so I'm throwing a party 🥂🥂🥳🥳🥳🥳

    • I hope your right FH, Flanagan is a winner he's what we need with the squad we have

"People will still complain because they will have more away games against better teams compared to other teams or different turn around times.
I think a shorter season and stand alone rep period is the best option and over due though."
