What another Boring Year for Eels Fans

Towards the end of the 2025 NRL season I think a majority of Eels fans had some form of optimism for 2026 hoping it might be a possible top 8 position for the Eels.

However, this year has turned into one of the worst so far on record with Eels defence one of the worst on record since 1995 and plumetting.

If this year gets any worse it most certainly looks like a Wooden Spoon or very very close to it with the only likely opposition is the Dragons but once they start putting a few wins on the board they'll easily overtake the Eels whose for and against is the worst of all NRL teams.

It seriously needs to be questioned IF Jason Ryles and his assistants Nathan Brown and Sam Moa were the correct choices and IF the fitness and conditioning coach is even qualified because this is the most unfit and mentally unconditioned Eels team I've ever seen.

Where to from here? Who seriously knows.

The Eels can't attract any decent quality players and the current squad with or without injured players are bog average.

Considering it's been 40 years since the Eels last premiership it has to be asked what is Mark O'Neil, Jim Satantinos actually doing to fix this longest premiership drought in NRL history because from the outside looking in they certainly aren't doing anything accept collect their pay cheque.

The current idea floating around seeking tempory short term player loans from.other clubs isn't the answer. In fact, it could make matters worse and is really only a band aid trying to cover up more deeper serious problems.

        • It should be the clubs #1 metric should be winning a premiership if it isn't then Houston we have a problem but the bottom line is like Mutts mentioned there's zero championship DNA in the building and from the looks of things at board level everyone has everyone's back JR will be the fall guy and we rinse wash repeat the same and hope for better.

So if they think MoN Jim Matt and co are the high tide so be it we'll take being profitable for the win.Puts in perspective what the last coach and coaches before him had to deal with.

      • 100% agree. The FO executives is clearly prioritising and looking at the Balance Sheets results rather than the on field results. As long as the cash is coming in, they will feel that they are doing it right. Sadly, we cannot totally blame them since their training and experience are as finance pencil pushers and do not have any ounce of actual rugby league field knowledge nor experience. Somebody who loves the Eels that will prioritise winning a Premiership must be installed.

  • "There's always next year" - parramatta Eels motto. (Decade? Century?)

  • For Christ sake I don't know why there's people on here that put themselves through all the pain and shit of being a so called parra supporter. There's 16 other clubs to pick from . Problems solved

    • Loyalty Hector it's called Loyalty.

      • And that's something you don't show

        • Loyalty and speaking up when you see something wrong are different things. If you think the club is headed in the right direction so be it but when you continually see the same poor decisions being made year after year it becomes very frustrating.Especially when your falling behind in your own backyard.

          • Exactly well said

          • Hiding behind anonymity on social media does little to effect change, not in the real world at least.

            • Don't be so sure. Senior execs and Board members read this and other fan sites. They may not like these sites or appreciate the wild comments but they definitely see them. And when elections roll around they definitely look to these sites for support. It's about the only voice we have left particularly if you want to give constructive criticism. They won't get any of that from supporters forums etc. There's a few on here who aren't anonymous btw.
