What a Day of Footy! (And my thanks)

After being released from hospital last night, still under the haze of a myriad of medication, what a feast of football awaits me. Obviously the Eels game will be the major focus but I'm also interested in the Roosters vs Dragons game. I think it will help me to gauge the Dragons. Is it possible to overdose on footy? On a personal note, I'd like to thank all of the well- wishers, both in the dedicated blog and in the messages I received. Family and friends have been brilliant. The triple break in my leg is an awkward one and I've received multiple warnings about being cautious. It's frustrating to not be able to get to the Eels games at the moment, especially with the great people I get to catch up with on match days. Glad I've got Foxtel.Bring on the footy.

  • That has set me on the path to weight loss. I reckon I've already dropped a few kilos in barely touching it! What I'm glad to be away from is all of the botched cannula attempts on me. The spurting wrist one and the one in my forearm that put my hand into a claw and made my forearm look like Popeye! What got me was the intern with that one ignoring me telling her and showing her that she had messed up. She had to rely on the nurse explaining that my swollen arm was a sure indicator that it hadn't worked.
  • All the best sixties. Can't wait for you to get down to training again ! See you soon.
    • Thanks Chris. Same here!

    • That's my greatest challenge Captain. They kept telling me to slow down during rehab. Nearly fallen a couple of times and that would be a major issue. i have to find the balance between being mobile asap but allow for appropriate healing.
  • I thought that previous blog about sixties hurting himself was just a gee up.
Sixties, can you elaborate on what actually happened.
Get well son, we need u.
    • Much of the facts in the blog are true. Steep front yard. It was half time in the footy. I went out to put the garbage bins out. Going down the hill towing a bin I slipped (don't wear thongs on slippery grassy slope), my ankle twisted then I fell with my weight bending my ankle the wrong way. Loud crack. I thought that I had dislocated it due to the shape. Not a pleasant sight. It turned out to be a break across both leg bones and cracked off a chunk of the ankle ball. Triple break. Took 5 minutes of me calling for help and eventually neighbours found me. Operated on Wednesday with plate and screws inserted.
Evidently another man had done something similar taking the garbage out and had been brought to Westmead. He fell back and hit his head. His family donated his organs. I was very unlucky yet the outcome wasn't what that poor man suffered.
      Domestic chores = danger!
  • You could have taken the opportunity sixties to have 2 hip and knee replacements while you were in there to save time in the future! If they come up with the Steve Austin type of replacements I will be the first in but all that beeping when running again may become annoying

    • Any time spent in hospital is never pleasant. Daily blood tests, countless injections, (I could never be an addict!), multiple cannula replacements, being woken every couple of hours for various checks. But my injury will only be an inconvenience for a few months. I keep thinking about people who spend so much of their life in hospital yet never complain. They just get on with it.

"Some players need to get sacked from a club and risk losing it all before they really knuckle down and put in the work.  Why did he get sacked, was it lack of discipline for footy and training or off field issues?"
