We can knock off the Broncos at home

Watching them play at the moment, all the experts and punters are saying it's a full gone conclusion that they'll beat us twice but they aren't exactly setting the world on fire, they haven't got a strong team like in previous years. We play them in 2 weeks at home and if we can beat the tigers next week to continue our momentum I can't see why we can't knock them off. Thoughts?

  • Anything is possible in Rugby League. The refereeing can always determine some outcomes as we've seen before.
  • by the time we vs the broncos oates boys and gillet will be back we can beat them but big difference by then
  • Beethoven had his critics too
    • Beethoven, who'd he play for? i thought he was that big dog that carries the cask of rum around his neck in the snow looking for drunken sailors that've fallen asleep in the cold.

    • See if you can name two of them?
    • 3 of them.
  • We will struggle to beat Brisbane if we do not complete above 80. Their halves imo are the area we need to attack. They also play quick in Brisbane which can hurt us if we do not control the ruck.....

"Whilst clearly the Tigers game is the next focus for the team and will take a high level of effort to get the job done. What is intriguing to me going forward is our chances to take the Broncos at home in the following game. They have a 4 win, 4 loss record away from home and they have not been at their best in recent times. I think that it will be a good test for the Eels.

They need to step up now and show that they can take teams above them on the ladder. They need to show that they are not completely overawed by the better teams. Also to help them most of the injured players who will be available in 2017 should be back for this game. I look forward to Terepo coming back for one, I can't wait."

    • Yes agreed John. We just need to have our focus on each week, and know it sounds boring but its a must. The coaches will need to ensure they have their team focusing on each game...as wests / Souths / Titans and C'bury can all rough us up at times.
    • John, I agree however, how often have we seen a horses team sitting on the edge of the comp heading towards the finals, and looking suspect, even into the early finals rounds and then come good, under Bennett?

Interesting also this morning of the news that Thaiday is not getting a new contract, while he's passed his best, there's little doubt he could go at least another year, maybe two, but it will mean that Sam will be revved up for this probable last session.

While they are beatable, like all sides, the eels should be able to win at least one of the games though, and the way the ladder is ATM there's not a lot of difference between 3 and 7 in the points, 24 plays 26, but the differential is where the eels are knocked out.

"Start Samrani either centre or wing. He smashed the sharks and the chooks. Was fast, tackle-busting and once he set his eyes on the try line it was curtains for the opposition.
I'd start him on the wing as not to disrupt Rusty and the combos set up…"
