Ronald Volkman has signed with us for the 2025 season. Due to start training with the squad tomorrow, so I suspect the announcement would be first thing in the morning.

Between Volkman and Hawkins, feeling so much more confident with the depth in our halves!

          • I remember when the Roosters released him to the Warriors and there was a lot of commentary about him being one they shouldn't be letting go. Admittedly they also had Sam Walker, so I guess they chose Sam.

He's got a bit of the Shaun Johnsons about him as well with his running and passing game. Good get for us on a small deal.

  • Stoked with this

  • Volkman the next version of Shaun Johnson, exciting to watch

  • Isn't he just like a very raw and inexperienced Asi ?  He's a year younger and played 40 less NRL games and 4 less international or rep type games.  I welcome any depth , howver the hype I'm just not understanding when we just said no to resigning a much much better player who was our depth.

    • Your slip is showing again Wiz, Asi was a reserve grader at best, he was slow, could not tackle consistently or handle too much first grade pressure. Apart from that he was handy as a 3rd level half.

Volkman is a talent..... stick around a bit longer as you will learn to identify same through "Master Ryles".

PS he also weighs 93 kilos which gives him a look at the 14 job.

    • Volkman missed a full year due to injury, would have played FG at Saints.

Just a backup up on a train and trial so a good signing.

I thought Asi was doing ok but only played so much FG as we couldnt keep our halves on the field. One game we had Asi at 7 and Matterson at 6 FFS.

Hawkins is the primary backup anyway.

      • I think you will find Hawkins is the back up for Moses and Volkman for Brown but I have a sneaky feeling that being 93 kilos Volkman may get a look at the 14. Hands to start and Volkman the standby covering all the backs and Hooker.

        • Going to be some competition for the 14.

Lussick, Smith, JPap, Volkman for starters.

    • Nah he's wayyy more talented than asi. Had half the nrl chasing him a couple of years ago
