Unity is Strength: Back the Badge

1 Eyed Eel was established and has become the community it is because of a simple connection.

We all support Parramatta. We all care. We all want that fifth premiership. We'd all like Jason Ryles to be standing on the dais alongside Mitchell Moses with the Provan-Summons trophy.

The results on the field have not been there since 2022. We all know that. The club knows that. It's why Brad Arthur and his coaching staff were dismissed. It's why Jason Ryles was appointed. It's why we shed almost the entirety of the 2022 grand final squad.

Yet what I have watched this season on the field, is the clear display that this playing group is united. They may be inexperienced. They make mistakes. They have lost more games than they have won. But they keep fighting for each other.

The keep fighting for the badge. The playing group is together. The club itself is together. All pulling in the same direction.

Can we say that as fans?

Can we say we're all united?

I'm not talking about blind faith. That doesn't work. This site has existed in many ways as a field for criticism to be expressed and that will always remain.

1 Eyed Eel itself was a catalyst for change during and after the Roy Spagnolo years. Phil united large sections of the supporter base to oppose those who would seek to bring the club down.

Now I see a new threat rising. One that tears at the very fabric of what we as supporters should stand for.

What is happening among other sections of the membership (yes I am referring to Talking Parra) is similar to what Roy Spagnolo attempted.

He has placed himself in opposition to the very club he supports. He has posted publicly that leadership should be removed because he disagrees with their decisions.

He has called on fans to brigade the club through email and phone.

This all stems from him losing access to players and sources within the club.

He has contacted other Eels members. He has publicly made false and misleading statements. He posted abusive commentary towards club staff.

He has seeked to damage the reputation of club staff.

This is not on. This is self-serving. This is trying to make yourself bigger than the club.

This was a comment the owner of the Talking Parra page left on Facebook: "The people in charge are not supporting me so why should I support them."

This is even more damaging and vitriolic than anything Roy did.

The club itself has determined to suspend his membership for his actions. That is the club's prerogative. All of us sign up to those terms and conditions when we join as members.

And memberships, social media presence, websites, they don't grant you anything other than the merch you receive, the tickets you purchase and the events the club provides.

It does not guarantee access to players, it does not provide inside information, it does not entitle you to anything.

I agreed to take stewardship of 1 Eyed Eel because I saw the site in a similar way to Phil. I did not take it with the belief it entitled me to anything.

I look over at some of our former 1 Eyed Eel members at The Cumberland Throw, who do a fantastic job at covering the entire club. Those who have had the pleasure of speaking with Sixties or Mitch or Forty20 will know the absolute Parra people they are.

They don't do what they do because they see themselves as being owed anything. They do it because they care.

I have nothing personal against Talking Parra.

We both joined the SGA at the same time. He has since departed of his own accord.

What I cannot stand though, is someone believing they are bigger than the club and attacking those who have disagreed with him, or called him out when has got things wrong.

He's called for fans to go after the club on socials, by phone and email.

Who is staffing that? It's not the executive. It's the regular staff who should not be made to be collateral damage.

He doesn't care though.

We should be united as a supporter group the same way this playing group is united.

Instead we're watching someone attempt to tear down the club. Who is directing his anger at the very people who stabilised and rebuilt the club from the ashes of the salary cap saga that saw it placed into Administration.

And in so doing he will affect the lives of those who simply want to go to work and serve the members of the club.

This is not okay. This is not on.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

Back the Badge.

          • Dear Randy, my question was fair. Chiefy spends a great deal of time on 1EE attacking the club, and this blog is about Talking Parra spending a great deal of time attacking the club, and Chiefy posted a link to the next Talking Parra podcast. Hence, is he their rep here? Nothing hangs on whether that is the case or not, as Chiefy's points stand on their own two feet.

I note Chiefy didn't lose his marbles. He simply answered 'no'. End of story. Easy peasy. People can arrive at the same point independently. I have never got one iota of inkling from Chiefy that he would bother lying about stuff, so his word is good enough for me.

You, Randy, on the other hand, are making absolutely absurd insinuations. Your insinutation implied I was lying about my identity. Where is the call for that? You talk of losing respect but you have made that bed all by yourself, unprompted.

            • So Randy is suspended for now. Not for that remark but for a string of attacks on moderation.

Can I ask Chief and Daz to settle down for now.

You've both communicated your views. I think you can now leave the matter alone.

  • Good on ya Super Needed to be said The club came first and then us Not the other way around

  • He's got a fair few fans ready to hand in their membership ....

im not sure whether mb they should have sorted this out " indoors " . He reckoned he asked for a meeting , they refused.

i know it will all end up the daily telegraph though 🙄🙄

    • I wouldn't care if my mate has a blow up with the club, it's betweem him and the club, I wouldn't hand my membership in.  Unfortunately it is the way of the world now.  Get outraged take sides and broadcast it for everyone to see.

If people who aren't best mates with him or family hand in memberships I would question their judgement.  Especially if they read 1 side of the story online as the club aren't about to come out and give specific details or acknowledge him.  Even if media do a small report on it, it will be about fans as a whole feeling disconnected from the club which isn't really news as it happens when any team struggles.  There won't be any mention of his name or podcasts and I bet that will hurt him as he sees to have a pretty high opinion of himself and over inflated self worth and value as a fan.

I don't understand a grown man carrying on like he is cause he got asked not to do something, kept doing it, complained to those in charge who told him to leave it then had repercussions banning him from having access to certain events and areas where players and staff will be.

It would happen in any business or decent sporting club in the world.  You don't give access to people who want to bring you down or leak information to the inner circle with access to the most important stakeholders and information.  Various reporters and commentators are banned from different clubs throughout the NRL for similar things.  His podcasts don't have the same reach but he has enough reach that if he leaks nformation other sites may pick it up, so he faces the same consequences.

    • Why we handing memberships in, I'll back the players and always will support them. We have core group of great young men that deserve a taste of the trophy. We'll get there but it's about everything and everyone buying in to what Ryles is doing and atm they are. We just need a few players to add the addition of our grit, we can be the next panthers if the club can sign the right players that can fit our mould and it has started with Sua and hopefully many more to come.

  • People are forgetting this is the most connected sqaud we've had, we're building something and if we get it right and add a few pieces to the right positions we are on our way to be the next panthers. Patience and time it takes, I hate the R&R because I know we are few players away from it all coming back home.

  • I posted how it is now in the news with nine. But deleted as I felt it didn't need traction and views.

  • There is a lot of misguided information in this post and the comments. I can happily discuss to an extent if you like, or if you care, or if u want to listen. I can have debates and discussions without it turning aggressive.

There's many things, but one quick example is How can one be upset about losing access to players, when access was never granted in the first place? Do you honestly think that's what this whole thing is about? For a long time Adam has been pushing the club to grant better access to players FOR ALL podcasts. TCT included. Moving forward with modern times like some other clubs.

I've been a long time lurker of this page. Not a big poster. I alwast just like to read the blogs and comments. I've been a long time TCT follower. I've always considered TCT good for some things, Talking Parra good for others. Like am and fm radio I guess.

Yes, if u follow the trail. I am Adams brother, and now involved in TP. For a long time I was just a supporter though due to other commitments.

Whether u agree with his stance, or not, it is still a very sad world when a member can have a 17 year membership cancelled for speaking out against a club. A club he absolutely loves. For public criticism. Last time I checked, we deserve criticism. That's a very slippery slope to go down.

They've given no consistent reason, no examples, and their story changes. That's not OK. First they said he was leaking info the players gave him. Which is absolutely ludicrous. Then they said he abused a staff member. Also ludicrous. They couldn't give examples.

Then someone pretended to be David Lidiard and email all his sponsors. Last time I checked, pretending to be someone else is fraudulent behavior. The breadcrumbs on that little bit of craziness have been quite interesting.

There's comments and suggestions about some kind of Roy Spagnolo type faction. He wants the club board out and to takeover. This is absolute rubbish. Adam very publicly spoke out against them last time they tried to get reinvolved. He has defended Jim, even after this. Like me, he doesn't care who runs our club, as long as we're winning. We'll, other than Roy haha.

Anyway, mainly I guess the reason I commented is because yeah, he's my brother. He's hurting. And I don't like seeing people with half a story throw shade.

I've at time told him to take it offline and calm down. He's passionate. And believes he is in the right. I'm the first to tell him when he's got something wrong, or to word things better. Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn't.

But given the whole story over the years since 2024, I absolutely back him here.

    • He also said he wants to move on and yet constantly posts updates that do not need to be posted. He has supporters that have and will stand by him, he doesn't need to post that. But constantly does and seems the Mole runs with it too.

But to be fair the Lidiard email was worth posting about imo. That's become pretty…"
