Unbeatable 13

In the blog about the surprise packets for 2016 it was said in passing that if we had 13 Manu Mau's we would be unbeatable. Would be a scary team alright - but got me thinking about if you could have one player who could fill all positions who would it be.In my opinion Jarryd Hayne is the only player from past or present who would be truly unbeatable. If he played full back to front row his skills, strength and stamina would beat all comers, including the Australian and New Zealand test teams.I expect many wil disagree - but is there any player who you could possibly pick? Johns, Lewis too slow. Lockyer and Thurston too small. Burgess and Graham not enough variety.Am I reaching too far saying a team of all Hayne's would be truly unbeatable? Some may say a team of Hayne's wouldn't be tough enough or humble enough to do the hard yards? I don't agree with that - he was bashed every week in a losing team.I know it's a bit out there as a topic - but it is the offseason.

  • Agree 100%, unbeatable
  • Billy Rodgers ?
  • I'm picking 13 Rex Mossop's or 13 Ray Price's. You just know they will beat up everyone in every tackle, will play 110% for 80 minutes and if you did happen to score against them they will still chase you up into the grandstand to give you a hiding.

    • Gold. How about 13 Terry Robinsons or 13 Les Davidsons? If they ran out of opponents, they would happily beat themselves up.

  • Whilst Ma'u had a great year and was our best forward, it's easy too look good in a team who ran 12th.
No disputing he went great but was he in the top ten forwards in the game? No.
I would love to see us have a couple of forwards in the top ten seasons end next year.
Manu can take his game to another level IMO.

    I'd have 13 Wil Chambers.
  • It was me Richo, but said 17 Manu Ma'u's. I didn't literally mean have the 1 player playing all the roles. My comment was more directed to his work ethic and never say die attitude. Have never seen him play a bad game or give up and the way he throws his much smaller frame at bigger opponents is incredible. In some respects another Ray Price, another small player with similar attributes.

  • 13 x Corey Parker's would be one hell of a team
    • Yep I thought of Corey Parker.
Hard, great tackler and can kick goals. Love the fact he is no bullshitt and manages himself.
  • Yep, that's how I understood your comment Glenn - and I'm a massive fan of Manu's - just thought I'd expand on it a bit. One thing for sure with a team full of Manu's nobody including a team of Haynes would take the game easy
  •  but it is the offseason.

And that my friend is the ONLY reason some of us have not reached out through cyberspace and beaten you to a ppulp.

I miss Sunday Arvo Footy - I would even leave the sound on and listen to Goose.

    Desperation is setting in
