1. Ken Thornett.....never saw him play, based on reputation EQUAL First
3. Paul Taylor Former halfback was used to great advantage by Jack Gibson at P’matta as fullback, hooker and, incredibly, second row forward during the 1980s. Taylor’s versatility saw him used as a reserve in the Eels' historic grand final win in 1981 but he played fullback during the club's 1982-84 and 1986 grand final campaigns. Taylor often came into the front line and tackled relentlessly, allowing Peter Sterling to fall back and cover-defend. On one occasion during 1981 Taylor made a club record 52 tackles in a match, while in 1988, he scored a then club record-equalling 4 tries in a match against Canberra.
4.Mark Levy P’matta junior spent three seasons with Balmain (the first as a member of the club's U23's premiers) before moving back to the Eels in 1976. Levy was a former centre who played much of his career with P’matta at fullback (in the 1977 grand final though, he was stand-in five-eighth when John Peard withdrew). Released from the club by Jack Gibson before the 1981 season, he signed with Penrith. A fine goal-kicker, Levy also had the ability to chime into the attack and cover-defend
5.Gary Dowling - One of the fittest players in the premiership during the 1970s Garry Dowling was a strong, explosive fullback with C’bury after coming from Oakdale in NSW's Southern Division. He played for NSW in 1975 but joined P’matta after eight seasons with C’bury. In 1980 he was chosen whilst playing on wing in club games to tour NZ with the Australian side as a fullback. Dowling was named ‘Player of the Series’ after fine displays in Australia's two Test victories. He later joined Wests for one final season and despite playing for NSW in 1981, he left Sydney to play for the Gold Coast ‘Vikings’. Dowling was tragically killed in a car accident near Mt Tambourine (Queensland) on his way home from a trial match in Beaudesert in March 1983.
Tele - agree totally and YES I did see 'The Mayor' play.
Although he never made 52 tackles as a fullback Taylor was a very good player. During those years I recall him playing more and more often in the 2nd row whilst spending time at fullback often was swapping week to week and during games. Very versatile player with a heart as big as 'The Bear'.
"Yep Talking Parra had Tuilagi and Pezet at 9.5 and felt that was too high considering both had issues during the game, particularly the first 25 mins."
"With To'o and his comment of "Hard work beats talent" leans into what i suspect with my comments below as well. Discipline, ie hard work to get back in the line and move up when fatigued , the cover defending the fullback getting back in…"
"They are spot on. He did more wrong than right. The bounce of the ball goes the other way on Smith try and his own, and his performance would be crucified. They were very lucky bounces on somewhat selfish 3rd tackle plays. He was also at fault for a…"

I remember that day when Dowling was killed.
1- Jarrod Hayne
2 - Ken Thornett
3 - Gary Dowling
4 - Mark Levy
5- Phil Mann
As far as fullbacks of the last 30 years I would agree with 3 of the 4..... Scott Mahon though was absolutely terrible.
Scott Mahon made the list? *facepalm*
