To the Eels

My title is to the Eels.

What are the Eels??

They are the club. They are the players. They are the coaches. They are the lower graders. They are my work mates who so long ago were cut and now resent the Eels because of Brian Smith. But most of all they are us. Die hard supporters who no matter what, buy season tickets, attend games and submit to this blog. They are anyone who donned the B&G

I will ALWAYS be an Eels supporter not just a supporter of Eels results. I sit here late at night, resolved to copping the crap from Eels haters hear and far but resolve myself to give it back with interest.

I have been an Eels fan since I was young. My family had the first colour tv in our street and as a 4 year old, I remember the loss to those Eagles in '76. Thanks Nev!!!!

My blood is green, I have blue and yellow running through. It will never change. To tell the truth, I tried. During the dark years (86-96) but could never do it.

I took pride in every result, like the Eels beating the then defending premiers, the Panthers in 92 in pouring rain, Sterlo kicking I think his only field goal in the mud at Parra Stadium, then they followed it up beating a test strength England the following friday while travelling second last on the ladder.

I can't forget these times.

Nor can I forget the 2001 season where I watched every game, often getting bored with the Eels outstanding results, 20 point win, pfft, 40 point win pfft, 50 point win pfft......

I can't forget here and now. My first season as a ticket holder. My first of many no matter the previous seasons results. I would order one now if possible,

I hope V the Warriors, no matter what happens, we have our biggest crown EVER. A stall wart every bit if not more deserving as Kenny, Sterling, Hindmarsh, Thornett, Price, O'Reilly etc etc will play his last game in the blue and gold.

Let's all be there and scream the house down

Results are just bragging rights for that moment in time. I love my Eels no matter what.... Do you??

I'll be there no matter what happens!!
  • Great blog!
I love my eels no matter what i can still see that day
That we win the title and it being the greatest day of my life
    Eels till i die!
  • I love the eels too, but sometimes like any relationship the friendship gets tested, this is one of those times, infact it happens at one stage every season.
No different to being married really.
  • Fully agree Parra-matters. It is one of those times but like any good relationship, you have faith it's only a rough patch before you kiss and make up. No matter what happens, there is no fear of abandonment!!
  • LOl i second that. Im currently in the 'depression' stage of the relationship .

I agree with the v warriors comment though. As it is looking likely it is going to be our last game of the season ( no i am not being a bandwagon supporter, im just stating what is looking to be reality atm) and everybody (I MEAN EVERYBODY) should attend the game so that we can give Cayless the send off he deserves. Its a shame its going to be against a NZ team but nevertheless no one has an excuse for not attending. :)
    • It's good it's against NZ side. Less opposition supporters, more Eels supporters!!
      • Lets hope so. Ill be so dissapointed if most of our fans dont go ! We should have over 15k there.

"True, but in my opinion he's overpaid. 650k for an inexperienced rookie is a lot. I bet Ryley Smith is on a lot less.
