Tina Turner Passed Away Aged 83

Tina Turner: legendary rock’n’roll singer dies aged 83

Turner who initially found fame in a turbulent musical partnership, became one of the biggest acts in the world as a solo artist and one of the defining pop icons of the 1980s.

Turner, she struck out alone and – after a few false starts – became one of the defining pop icons of the 1980s with the album Private Dancer. Her life was chronicled in three memoirs, a biopic, a jukebox musical, and in 2021, the acclaimed documentary film, Tina.

In a statement on Wednesday night, her publicist Bernard Doherty said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”

    • Parra fan .Mate I am listening to a lot of Demis Roussos lately. My daughter love's visiting Greece every year for her holidays. One country I never visited but have had it on my bucket list which will never come to bear fruit.Love seeing your connection with us.

      • Nice words, Tad.

Scratch Greece off your bucket list otherwise you'll never forgive yourself.

Do the "ancient stuff" in Athens and then visit Crete. Go to Chania (Crete) and lay a wreath at the ANZAC cemetary. The island is then at your disposal. It has everything. Ancient tours (Knosos Palace), beatiful beaches, gasping scenery, the best food ever and locals who are so friendly and hospitable. Due to ANZAC's fighting and dying in Crete, Australians have a status a bit more special than your average tourist.

        • Greece is amasing. I've done Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, and Ios. All beautiful places.

      • The Greek islands would be spectacular I reckon. The culture, food etc.. I reckon also Italy, Spain and Portugal would be great. The Mediterranean

        • Been to Italy and Spain. Both brilliant. Had a good time.

          •  Pf I did the old parts of Italy as well Spent a day in Sienna. You could easily feel like and relate to living in that city hundreds of years ago . Nothing much changed architecturally. Another great place was Orvieto. A big hill you would love. Just thinking about all these places is difficult for me. Wish I could have done more.Great memories.

        • Plus, Greece is quite a cheap country! Lots of homeless people, but that doesn't take away from the greatness of the country!

          • Homeless mainly in Athens. Provinces and islands have little to no homelessness.

It was cheap. Everything has gone up 20%-40% in the last year...

  • I don't know what to say PT about her passing. So many of that era are slowly slipping away. I spoke to a very good old school friend the other day. As kids we used to play touch footy, soccer with a lot of kids at a church ground with lots of space. Most of the kids that played lived with in 200 metres of the church ground. My friend listed a lot of names under 75 who we played with and all gone. Sad when you get to the age when you see kids you went to school with and have passed before their time. Idols like Tina Turner bring memories into focus of the good times. Good time to take these events to reflect on your own life and hope all those who have been part of your life space will treasure your friendship.
