Time to step it up

Over the last few years the eels have slipped in and out of games, lacked energy and intensity in the first 20 mins of matches, ran one out, been horrible at controlling the ruck, atrocious line speed in defence, bad defensive reads on our edges, non existent marker defence, lack of mongrel in attack and defence, disgraceful fifth tackle options and above all a complete lack of support for the ball carrier and communication breakdowns with our outside men. This year however the tide is starting to turn, even the loss of peats and Mau as bigger set backs as they are we are improving in all the above areas. As much as I like seeing the eels rack up big score lines nothing warms my heart more than when we are not playing at our best but find a way to win by doing some of the basics well, solid kicking game, repeat sets and supporting the ball carrier. Although the eels have exceeded my expectations this year it's time to step up. There is no better team in the comp when we play with confidence and with momentum we could be a dangerous football team with more scope for improvement than any of our opposition. It's time to become ruthless forget about the fact we've won only three penalty counts, and a have a mountain of injurys , it's time to get gritty do the little things we'll stay in the fight long enough for our attacking class to get us home. It's an easy game if you can build PRESSURE we need to do it both with our attack and defense. My first blog I apologise for its length.

  • Nice first blog. Some great points raised.
  • Welcome to the blogging madhouse Ryan.Fine points you make. Your first sentence is four lines long. The standard on here is if you have four-line sentences, you do not use any punctuation marks.

    • Gee Bernie,I thought I was a grammar nazi! Leave him alone. His blogs can be 500 words and one sentence long. As long as can spell reasonably and knows the difference  between there/their/they're , your/you're, his/he's and never uses dumbshit text talk like ur ,bcze, or cu soon.

    • Tom, r u sure his blog is not up their with orful gramma + speling blogs with such long first run on sentanc & stuf?

  • Hi Ryan. no need to apologise for your first blog mate. Well said.

  • I think with the for and agsinst so important this year we need to minimize things like that last try with a minute to go. True what you are saying though. Get that next level going for the whole game.
  • Welcome Ryan.
Agree with pretty much everything you've said. Let me state the bleating obvious! Parra either steps up over the next 6 weeks or starts preparation for 2015. It's that simple.
It's extremely frustrating for the fans cause we all know they are capable, but they are the ones who need to believe it. The skill levels between most NRL sides nowadays are marginal it all comes down to attitude and self belief. If BA can unlock this, then who knows what can happen.
  • Nice first blog Ryan, welcome to the site mate.

"Blore is average. We are top heavy for forwards, very light on in the backs, now you want to get rid of two backs for an average forward. I'm glad Mon is part of the recruitment team, and not you."
