In a few months time when we run out onto the field for the Grand Final. Do you think anyone is going to remember that we got spanked by the Roosters in round 21?, no.
In order for us to reach it that far we have to win tonight. I know if we lose we are still 'mathematical' chances but for mine a loss tonight would kill our confidence and our cause. I see the fact that we play all our remaining games against teams above us as a major advantage, if we can topple them not only will it enrich us with the confidence that we belong in the finals, yet as we gain competition points we are also taking away the ability from those ahead of us to gain further ground.
Last week for mine was a glitch, without a doubt we hit a team who were already in hot form hitting their crescendo, I remain of the belief that they would have beaten any team in the comp last week most probably comfortably as well. Parra as a team did not play poorly, we busted ourselves all game but in the end things didn't quite go our way, I still don't believe there is 36 points of difference between the two sides and I hope that we have the oppurtunity to turn the tide in the coming months.
It is the way however we bounce back tonight as a team, that we will be remembered for.
The Titans are not an easy team to defeat, they play gritty, repetitive footy and score points when they need to. They are a lot like the Dragons that you know exactly the performance you are going to get from them, it may not be pretty to watch but it is no less effective. Their worst is never to far from their best which makes them extremely competitive against anyone.
On paper we are far superior. They have us covered in the halves, but with the ability of Hayne our attacking prowess is far more potent than theirs. Their outside backs have speed with Gordon but that is counter-weighed by nuffies Micheals, Toopi and Zillman who can play but has been crippled with injury. As much as a I respect Preston Campbell I think we should be exploiting him, I would be making him work as much as possible and monstering him at every possible chance. I believe if we can dominate the ruck we can nullify Friend out of dummy-half then that will also stop Prince from getting quality ball thus killing two birds with one stone.
I have one major concern about tonight. Parramatta as a team this year have been guilty of losing one game and then losing all our steam and momentum which has accumulated in losing games in bunches, it has also worked in reverse when we have won we have won in groups. I hope that we are mentally strong enough to do like we did last year (against the dragons) and turn the tide and get the confidence back we showed against the Dogs in round 20.
I know the boys will be desperate for this one, lets see if that desperation is shown in our Footy tonight.
Lets Help the Telegraph sell some papers tommorow aye, fucking give it to em!!!!!
