I think he had to go so he could sort himself out and hopefully he has done that.
It would be a real shame to lose him to the NRL and I wish him the very best at the Broncos.
however:
1. he is a very weak defender
2. he barely runs the ball which made him predictable at times
3. he has a history of alcohol fuelled incidents (something which parra dont need atm)
4. and he crumbles under pressure. the game that springs to mind is eels vs cowboys 29 nil. is he was gunna win us a premiership that was our yr.
so no, i do not want him back in the blue and gold.
aside from all of that, i still wish him all the best at the broncos and i hope for his sake he has overcome his bi-polar and sorted out his life.
I'd like to see him do well. Whilst we no longer need his services, I'd be happy to see him succeed.
I maintain that he was / is a footballer with tremendous talent and playing ability. His natural kicking game was second to none and if you watch highlights from 2005, its clear why we did so well that year.
I really do hope he finds his feet in the NRL again and wish him every success. It would be really good to see him overcome some of the issues he had in his early career and blossom into a footballer worthy of the potential bestowed on him.
P.S. As for him caving under pressure, I think its harsh. While his 2005 performance against the Cowboys was his worst, at that stage he was a very young man, leading around a team of very experienced footballers. From memory, Ben Smith also had a shocker that day. The ability to deal with pressure is a maturity and an experience thing, as well as coaching influence.
