Thats how lacklustre the people running recruitment and retention roll. Our best prop, yet he can talk to other clubs in a few months,  and were extremely short on go forward props.

When he was only signed until 2027, I honestly couldn't believe it. Anyone could see he could be the cornerstone of the eels pack for a decade,  yet the absolute dh's in R&R have a situation where we have one of our best prospects since Utokimanu ( don't get me started on Utokimanu), off contract next year.

Last year,  they left it until the last minute to re sign Sam, thats how incompetent these dumb people are.

Sarantinos and Mark o'neill  = start looking after our jnrs

Iongi was a great extension now make Sam Tuivaiti and others who are of equal ability, long term Eels

Mark o'neill out asap if this drags on

    • Too be fair. When Russell signed two things. Firstly, many Eels fans still weren't keen on him. Secondly he got reportedly $600k to go to Perth. Thats insane money we should not be paying a Centre that is steady and good but not world class. It just unbalances your cap.

Imagine if they did sign Russell for that amount at the time?

Also, if Russell stayed we still sign Kelly as we needed depth.

Also Richo won't come to be GM, he would want CEO and Parra aren't moving on Sarantinos as his role of economics at Parra he is actually doing very well with.

      • We could have kept him id the front office got to him.and not waited until November when the bears came in. Its top late when that happens.

The key was never to.let it get that far.  Thats incompetent

Let's see how Kelly goes thos week

  • The diverse opinions here are amazing, sign him now, sign him before November, he could end up a flop not having played to many games, sack O'Neill, sack Sarantinos, sign Richardson as football manager, sign Richardson as CEO, Recruitment terrible, Recruitment doing  great job.

All I can say is that I hope the club know what they are doing in the R&R dept, because if we are relying on identifying, keeping  and signing our juniors as our way "Parramattas way" forward towards a premiership, we are going to need all the help in the world. Juniors as our way forward can only occur, if 1. we can identify real talent, 2. We can convince them to stay. 3. We sign them before other teams / or player managers see their potential.

Someone help me because I don't see either of those 3 things happening if recent history is anything to go by. Where does that leave our club, moving forward.

Cant sign in demand talent from elsewhere, cant sign proven Junior talent to long term deals, cant keep Juniors that display exceptional talent, dont know when to sign Juniors showing potential.

If we really can't break this cycle then by default, we fall back to plan B and sign has beens, naughty players on the outer, players that need to come back to sydney, or current player upgrades.

The cycle just continues, dosnt it!

  • I strongly support A) clearly identifying - early in a blog - who the player is in question. Next order of business should be to B) clearly identify the point to which point the player is contracted, and then C) at which point said player is free to negotiate with other clubs.

Otherwise it's hide the sausage stuff and basically click bait nonsense. Also I don't get all the pontificating about retention and recruitment lacking precision in a blog lacking precision. Be better!
