This contract issue goes both ways

Do tigers fans remember last year their CEO was in England trying to offload players, 2 years before their contract was up??

Perfect example is bud sullivan..Tigers were openly shopping him to other clubs last year and now he is at the Rabbits..Did we hear an uproar from Tigers fans about this? Infact, they were applauding it...Now, the reverse has happened to them and they are crying...

Nrl is a business...every club ruthlessly gets rid of "deadwood" from their roster but cries when a player they want to keep, wants to leave

I am not a fan of the current system and believe a transfer window with transfer fees should be introduced however player managers are playing by the current rules. Ethically wrong? Probably...but legally wrong? No

  • Definitely need a transfer window.
Abdo has said that a transfer window would not have prevented the Galvin situation but I beg to differ.
Currently there is a frenzied atmosphere when it comes to player signings. Players are signing 12 months in advance, signing 10 year deals, knocking back their current clubs for future offers a year or more in advance. The day after round 1 Dylan announces he's leaving the Eels. It's a rabble and the losers are the fans.
No system is perfect but 2 transfer windows a year would limit the constant damage and take the heat out of the player market at least for the bulk of the year.

  • The furore should be against the tigers more than Galvin

they trying to sign him up 2 years before his contract expired

what makes it worse he has tried being released before and said it earlier in the year would wait to November

tigers are the one pushing it and putting the pressure

zero sympathy for the tigers , lots of sympathy for Galvin even tho I don't like him

    • Yep

    • It has been reported numerous times Galvin was waiting for November 1.  It was understood by everyone except the Tigers front office who thought making a massive public offer would make him stay despite saying he wanted out numerous times.  They stuffed up.

If it was Parra offering a young player $5 million in such a public way you would blast them as well as Moses.  Especially as they could wait and see how he went this year.  It wasn't ever going to go much higher than 1million a season but if he fails you get him cheaper.  The only chance of retaining him is to have a good season and play finals forming combinations with Luai as other bids would be similar around $1million a year.

      • Stop blaming the parents. It blew up as big as it is now because of what his bullying team mates did.

Tigers were told that he won't accept the offer and was being honest for his reasons. Unless honesty is a bad thing now.

    • They did that, the tigers pushed for it now and when told they weren't going to sign they reacted this way.

Galvin is the victim here, he didn't want to be coached by benji and that's his decision to make. For what ever reason he  doesn't like benji's coaching and has every right to leave if he wants to when his contract is up.

The tigers have handled this appallingly,  they pushed for it now so they could save face if he decided to not re-sign on Nov 1, now he looks bad instead of them.

      • 1000% he is.

        • I do agree with this. Bit nieve to think they did not know what would happen. Dave Dobbins said something idiotic in that he believes Galvin just did what Moses wanted him to do. Graham said to him what if it was your son in same position what do you do? He said listen to the manager. Well he just proved he is dumber than what people already thought and he was dumb to start with.

Wests players are bullying Galvin, however Galvin is not free of blame here, he needs to cop it as regardless of if you think it is true that Benji cannot coach, keep it to yourself and just say you to test the market.

I heard from Galvin's camp last year he was not overly a fan of Benji but just wanted to play.

          • Is there a bigger dickhead in the media than Dobbo??

    • Moses is a smart man. The tiger fell into his trap hook line and sinker. Now he has engaged the union and made a bullying claim against the tigers. He will be released on mental grounds soon
