The player we should be signing - Corey Oates

With the news of Beau Scott's ACL injury (and likely retirement) we need to look at signing a decent replacement at second row.

Personally I think Oates is a star and has made it known he'd rather play second row than wing. Hes off contract at the end of 2018 and I think he'd be a great buy and worth using some of the cash Scott and Edwards have left us with.

Whats everyone's thoughts on this?

  • Yeah thats the size of outside back we need imo, on both sides of the park, good player dont know about moving him into the pack at this point though

    • With Niukore and Stone coming through I wouldn't be buying Oates to be in the back-row.

    • i'd cop him on the wing. probably over french. apart from the defensive lapse on the weekend ive been overall impressed with george jennings. French once again refused to get involved.

Either or though. He'd be an upgrade no matter where we play him.

P.s. Super ive not seen stone play but from what ive read he is another undersized forward. Cant say that has worked for us in the past

      • These are the big outside backs we need to cover for our pack with some big bulking runs under pressure, we dont have that atm, im certain its one of our big problems, part of the reason i see little future in French.

      • I've seen Stone play and he's nothing if not tough, persistent and plays above his weight. Of course he's going to look undersized. He's just turned 20. How many forwards are huge at 20? He's 6 feet and 95kg. So give him another pre-season and he'll be up over 100kg pretty comfortably.

To put some context in his size, Tariq Sims is about 3-4 inches taller and 105kg. So if Stone gets to around the weight, he's going to be able to handle it.

  • Nathan Davis should play in the forwards

    • Davis is a bum on the park, will never make a perminent 1st grader at this club.

    • I think Davis played wing in that cowboys loss mid last year and I think it's etched into Parra fan's memories forever. He'd have to do something remarkable to redeem himself. He had a terrible game.
  • He'd be great on the wing for us, but he wants to play second row. He's a much better winger.
