The overlooked half

With the quality and number of halves on the market as of 2018 with the likes of Johnson, Reynolds , Brooks, Moses, Bird, Widdop and so on who parra signs and a what price is paramount with the team definitely lacking in a good quality half and hooker next year. Chad townsend hasnt really been spoken about much on this site but i think he could fit it perfectly, with flanagan stating he would pursue reynolds if he was avaiable and with maloney and seggyaro on the books. Chad would have to make way with other clubs making big offers to the other halves we could hopefully get him at a good price they allows the signing of a quality hooker and perhaps one more forward. He would be allow corey to play his natural game and had a decent kicking game of his own

  • Townsend is a relatively average half that has a good game here or there. When Maloney falters, he can't pick up the slack.

    Pass for me.

    • Ricky, I'm curious to know what players you would be chasing? I guess signings for next season revolve around a few different things.
      1. Will Corey Norman remain in the #7 Jersey and remain the main play maker, or will he move back to the #6 and be more a running half?

      2. Would you spend money elsewhere and continue working on the current #6 and #7 combination?

      3. Is there any young players coming through the lower grades at Parra or elsewhere that you think could step up to 1st grade next season?

      4. Would you continue trying to develop Kaysa into a full-time 80 minute #9, or would you throw big $$$$ at another #9? If so, who would you chase?

      5. Would you try and sign a front rower that provides big impact but doesn't play big minutes, or a working type, big minute player? If so, who?

      6. Is there any other positions you would try and strengthen? If so, what position and what players would you be targeting?

  • No
  • Widdop thanks, he's a good player maker and also a good goal kicker!
  • Todd Carney for me
    • Not a chance.
  • Townsend is a pretty average half, not terrible, but nothing great either. He may have won a premiership, but a different gameplan in 2009 could have made Robson a premiership winning half as well.
  • He is Robson level with slightly better attack and slightly worst defence. I suppose it depends how we want to structure our salary cap.
  • Slippery i know fogarty only in hes first year but i cant see him never get a start at an nrl club i dont think hes going be that good at all

    ILL BE BACK

We are in a favourable position i wouldn't like to see us lose a such open and shut case.
Thats the key here the club getting the result and finishing the job."

"Well they came out and said they didn't reply. If it turns out he's lied and he did reply, they will lose all faith from the fans and clubs and Parra should go for the jugular. Then I have no doubts Abdo will need to step down."

"I can't see the NRL punishing our players for the Clubs actions, that would hurt the game even more and push the fans further offside with what they're doing. They will find other ways behind the scenes."
