The game between the Panthers and the Dogs epitomised the "new thinking in league." It is said that all good teams are using it. Penrith blew Canterbury off the ground yesterday by using the the flat and fast concept while the Dogs never used it at all, keeping to their stale, tired ancient and fly- blown ways. It seems that F and F is mainly used by the the back line with the forwards confined to doing what forwards should do--run hard, run straight and tackle, tackle, tackle. Flat and fast refers to the passing of the backline. I only blog on this because I think Moses has brought that concept to the Eels. But it seems to have had a positive effect on Tepe who was known as a non try scorer who could never break the line and would not pass the ball. These last two weeks have seen him as a different player. I also think that Hoffman was starting to show some try scoring ability due to this Moses effect. I know very well that one swallow never did make a summer so one must wait and see. I think Moses will be lucky to retain his first grade position due to his substandard defence and the fact that the Warriors treated him like a rag doll, as other teams will now do. His attack needs work on also as does his kicking game--can't keep kicking the ball down the centre of the ground. But if he is a natural Fand F player he will be an asset if the Eels adopt this new mantra.

If Gutherson goes to the right centre, that will strengthen the defence on that side. I can't wait to see that combination with Moses! Agree that Tep is getting better passes now and that is certainly creating damage on that side already.
Our right edge is now scoring tries galore
I put money on the entire right edge last week and they all scored
Before moses they could score to save their lives
Moses is no worse a defender than most NRL halves. He will improve.
He will be a representative half one day and our best half since Sterlo
I wrote a blog supporting Gutho when many was calling for his blood
And the same will happen with Moses. His class will eventually shine through
Can't believe he is already providing tries on the right side - as soon as he got here
I'm surprised you brought up Moses long kicking game about hitting it down the middle... it's been outstanding. I don't think we've found the deck so consistently in a long time with previous options booting it straight to the opposition.
Robert you listened to Ennis & Corey Parker yesterday on Fox !!!!
Importantly with Flat and Fast, it only works if your forwards are dominant, playing Flat and Fast if you don't have the defence tired/retreating is asking for lost balls and mistakes. I don't think it's new, I just think the Panthers used an attacking style that took advantage of a Bulldogs side they were steamrolling.
fish bulb: I don't recall Kimberley doing that but if you say he did I will accept that. But ,as I see it, flat and fast requires more than one in the backline doing it. Penrith showed that against a woeful dogs. The Broncoes also put it on display against Easts who had a good lead coming into the last six minutes or so. The Broncs sped up the game and when they got into Easts 20 metre zone they went flat and very fast and came up with two trys as a result. They were going to win that game but time ran out. I don`t think any team could have stopped those trys. It was Corey Parker on Fox sports yesterday afternoon that spoke about F and F for the first time that I have heard the term. He said at half time that the dogs had no chance of winning because they were not playing Fand F where as Penrith were not playing anything but Fand F. So I assume it comes from his time at the Broncs. Ennis on the same program said St George also play the Fand F game--last year they did not and found it difficult to score points. This year they are scoring points. I say again that Moses seems to me to be a natural F and F player in attack. His defence, for a $ 700 k player, is a great worry though.
