I like what is happening under Ryles. I was a fan of McDermott getting the gig but not despairing it was Ryles.
We needed a clean out, which is largely done. We needed new, young talent brought in, this is happening too.
Ryles will grow with this developing group of players, and I predict in the next year or so we will be challenging for a title.
This was always a long game, we need to accept that. 40 years next year since the last premiership. I was on the Hill at the SCG the last time we won so I get it, far too long a wait. But the reality is staring us in the face now, it does not care about what did or did not not happen over the last 40 years. We have a good man, with a strong character, unafraid to make big picture decisions in the interest's of the club. We have now exactly what we need, what we were crying out for so long. Be patient.

The worst thing about JRs hire was he was there 3rd choice and they made it known in the media.
Now we've made our bed we have no choice but to stick with that choice for the next 3-4 seasons.
I don't see us doing anything this year but hopefully we don't get the spoon.I know expectations are exceedingly low for this group.
No one in the group is in great form and the team is operating in isolation.
To me it's hard watching this side because they are just so poor at the basics nevermind structures and combinations they just can't do the little things right.
Another 2 years minimum before this group does anything.
No problems with your summation Coryn but I disagree about him being 3rd choice. i.e. he was first choice from who was available. They called for applications got good (available) ones. The final choice was subjective, the first 2 choices were not interested, fair enough!
My choice was McDermott..... the one we are probably regretting is Maguire but I believe he was not being liked by many and withdrew rather than being embarrassed by not being selected. Subsequent excuses about Origin considerations were convenient...... I also assume at that stage that Broncos had not approached him, but you never know?
All your coments about how he is going about it are relevant in my eyes as well, but that's ok, he seems to know what he is doing and whilst cannot say I like it, I am happy to see him succeed.
If this year is a total failure, which it is shaping to be, I am not sure he will get past season one. Some success or the flavour of the month "green shoots" appears than he may get that 2nd season. One overider is that if Moses returns and little change is noted, then he will lose Moses as well and that will end him.
I think he gets 2nd season too consolidate. Only way i see him getting sacked after a year is we finish winless, getting less than say 4-5 wins, or the players he brought in completely go backwards later in the year in their development. But honestly, i cannot see him not getting a second year.
You disagree with him being 3rd choice , but agree they had two preferences above him ? I'd say you're losing it , but I think it's well known it's been well and truly lost for years.
He literally was by definition and their own publicised admission " at minimum " 3rd choice. And I say " at minimum " as that's not even considering guys like Madge and Holbrook who told them they wernt intrested before they even got a chance to approach them with an offical offer.
Those guys ruled themself out which is quite embarrassing, Madge did it publicly and Holbrook was professional and respectful enough to do it privately.
Don't mind me asking Coryn, who was the 2nd choice? Bennett was 1, who was 2nd?
daylight LOL
LOL but it was Bellamey
Do we actually believe that though?
Sounded legit.
