  • Sadly Marty I think rugby league has moved on from the 1980's and this might not be the best way forward in 2019.

    • And there ladies and gentlemen lies the problem.

  • If Jack Gibson were alive today and coaching, he would not stand for the way the club is now or put up with most of the players.

  • Ok here is my 17, no particular order

Utoikamanu  Moeroa. Moses  Ferguson  Manu. Niukore. Lane. Paulo. Alvaro  Kaufusi  Gutherson  Brown N  Terepo  French. Salmon  Brown  Sivo

  • Unfortunately I think the most recent thread of who's gonna be our round 1 team IS a list of our best 17 players!  We don't have the talent and depth to warrant anyone playing out of position just because they are a better player. Instead we have big gaps where some players are playing in a position because there are no other proven choices. Centre and hooker come to mind.

  • Nothing will change,  even if we had 10 Internationals in our side,

  • Jack Gibson's greatest strength as a coach is his willingness to innovate and stay ahead of the pack. That might have been a great philosophy in 1982 when he had Sterling, Kenny, Price, Ella, Grothe, Cronin, Edge etc to choose from and no salary cap to operate under, but it is simply not the way to do it in todays NRL. If Jack was coaching today he would be exactly like Craig Bellamy.

Wayne Bennett has a similar philosophy, which is why he recruited Jack Bird on big money, but played him completely the wrong position for him. Again that was fine when he had Langer, Walters, Sailor, Lazurus, Thorn, Webcke, Tallis, Renouf, O'Neill, Carne, Hancock etc to call on, but not these days.

"Neither Kelly or JAC were playing yesterday. That's why Tago started. I didn't mind Alameddine. He did good ruck work and when given some room he seemed fast enough to take advantage of it."
