Canterbury prop Tevita Pangai Jr has decided to end his rugby league career at the end of the season to take up boxing.
The 27-year-old, contracted for 2024 on an estimated $750,000-per-year contract, has informed the Bulldogs of his desire to focus on family and fighting.
So your telling me Pangai Jnr threw away 750k for season 2024 to take up boxing? Whoever believes this crap needs their head read.
Laundy Hotels will sponsor his next few fights make up the difference he loss for 2024 and will resign at another club. And the Dogs will have 750k to spend on more players. NRL are oblivious to all of this or just don't care.

If it's all agreed to by all parties then the NRL can't do jack. It's legit.
What would you have the NRL do ?
First he shouldn't be allowed to resign with any club for 2024 and if he does whatever he signs for comes off the dogs cap.
I think that's the ideal here. He can't play in 2024.
Otherwise could you imagine the loophole that creates. Any player unhappy at a club could just "retire" and then once the new NRL financial year starts, all of a sudden they have "had a change of heart" and "still have more to give".
The club is unhappy with him, why would he be unhappy when he stands to earn 750k next year? I'd be wrapped.
If he's asked for a release and the Dogs have granted it then why not ?
Now if the Dogs haven't released him, then yes I would agree.
Brett seriously you ain't that gullible.
Oh I'm no sure he and Gus have had a chat on how to do it best for the club and him, but isn't that the kind of ingenuity we're complaining Eels management aren't using ?
Just because the eels are run by useless flops don't get upset when other clubs can make things for themselves because they have smart people
His agent is Khoder Nasser so ...... there's obviously a rort going on to get him out of his current contract 100%.
The dope thinks he'll earn seven figures for pay-per-view fights. Only problem is no one gives a shit about TPJ. I predict a big hyped up fight that no one will watch and that'll be the end of his illustrious boxing career.
