Let me begin this blog by stating that I believe that Jarryd Hayne is the most talented player to ever play for Parramatta. Is he the best ever? Time will tell.
The dilemna of being Hayne lies in people's expectations. The expectation is for Hayne to be a match winner every week. Is this a realistic expectation? If we were to make a comparison between Hayne and other players, it must be other fullbacks. You cannot compare his input to that of a halfback. He does not get his hands on the ball as often as a half so making a comparison to someone like JT does not hold any water.
So what fullbacks should we compare him to? Obviously it's Slater and Inglis. For mine Hayne has a greater influence on Parramatta's performances than Inglis does for Souths. Inglis is an impressive, powerful runner of the football but his skill set does not match Hayne's and he could easily be accused of drifting in and out of matches. So we come to Slater. Without question his performances have been of a high standard over a long period. Why? Skill, attitude and Smith and Cronk. Yet without having a consistent half/hooker combination at Parramatta, Hayne has produced match winning performances that leave the league public stunned.
Attitude? Let me share something with you that many people are not aware of, and it may shed some light on him being rested from games this year. After Jarryd Hayne returned from World Cup duties, his Eels colleagues were in the middle of off-season training. Jarryd wanted to be a part of it. He basically came straight back to training and was SENT AWAY. He was ordered to take a break. I was told of this in the off-season by a management source. This is the Jarryd Hayne that people don't hear about.
Now let's consider some other facts. Without Hayne Parramatta has a poor strike rate. Yet Hayne has never big-noted himself or complained about a lack of support. He has consistently stated his loyalty to the Eels, running the risk of perhaps never winning a premiership. No doubt he is well compensated, but we all know he would also be well compensated at other, more successful clubs. Yet his loyalty and commitment seems to be constantly under the microscope. Lets be honest, he has had to play in some poor Eels teams in recent years and has grown as a player and a man.
So to the dilemna. Jarryd puts in match winning, amazing performances with some average players around him. He is then questioned as to why such match winning performances do not occur every week. The more amazing he can be, the more he is criticised for not achieving such standards every single match.
The easy option for Jarryd would be to leave our club because his workload and the expectations would not be as heightened as they are with us. He doesn't take this option, he's never wavered in his loyalty.
He deserves our support, not our doubt.

Great blog 60, this will set the haters off and have them frothing at the mouth in no time.
Not just the most talented player to have played for Parra, he's the most talented player to have played the game... We should be thankful a player like this, especially in this day and age is 100% loyal to Parra!
Furthermore, he brings the next generation of supporters to our club. How many kids want to be like Hayne? How many kids would want to follow the Eels without Hayne in our team. Kids love winners. The Eels have not been winners but we have a winner who plays for us. Believe me, kids talk about Hayne and the things he does on the field, We are very fortunate to have such a player in our team. Can you even imagine what our team of the 80's would have done to the opposition with Hayne at fullback!
Great blog sixties, youve covered it all mate, as ive said before the people that blame hayne for our shortcomings or would rather use his salary on a few devent forwards are complete 1st class, top shelf imbos with nfi.
No jj but if you swap Hayne for Slater in Melbournes team how much better would Hayne be?
Oh look, right on time, heres one of those 'its all Haynes fault' imbos right now, welcome to the blog feces..
Feces, first off, being a hillsong sheep its a bit rich calling others weak and simple minded, your a funny guy.
I actually do put blame on the most influential people in the club, ive been doing it for years, that would be your idol Roy Spagnolo and co, its no surprise we have been going better since he has been gone.
Only a pure bred dope like yourself would put blame onto our most influential player on the park, the greatest player we have had at the club in decades, the bloke that every club would love to have.
You have stated that because of him we will never win a comp and that we should sell him for 2 decent forwards LOL.
Feces, you are full of your name sake feces/shit, you might as well just put 'full of'' before your name.
Your the same bloke that stated 'rich people are better people than poor people' and you claim to be a man of jesus LOL, i bet he would agree with you there, your a walking contradiction.
Yes lets get rid of Jarryd, its his fault we will never win a comp, he is the most influential person at the club, lets hate and blame the greatest player we have had in a generation.
You are a top shelf dope full of feces.
Spot on snake, every club in the comp would love hayne in thier team but people here want him gone. Go figure.
