The Difference Between Winning and Losing

The adage that this season will be the closest ever has probably never been truer. Last year 18% of games were won by 2 points or less, the highest percentage ever.

With this in mind a decent goal kicker has never been more important. So who will kick for Parra this year? Semi looked likely last year but I have doubts that Semi will even play this year after his court case. Gutherson kicked in his younger days but was never a gun goal kicker. So what other player is likely? Whoever it is they need to kick at around 80% for our team to remain competitive.

Note: I was hoping that BA would buy Jackson Hastings to use as hooker and as backup half if needed and he kicks at 84%.

  • Some people will say this doesn't matter - "Let's worry about scoring tries first" I've read on here. I bet those people won't be so flippant if we start losing games through goal kicking opportunities not being converted. Your concern is valid Glenn, St George pretty much won a premiership on taking the two at every single available opportunity and having a reliable kicker.

  • I think you're going to be correct.
The only recognized goal kicker at Parramatta is Fogarty, who needs
a season in Wenty before he gets his chance.

Goal kicking will definitely cost us games.

Guth or Semi will probably kick 60 - 65 %.
I'd be surprised if we kicked over 70%.
  • It definitely has me concerned
  • I would say that Taka and Normie will be in the calculations

  • Who would that be Monto?
  • Ben Hunt?
  • Unless someone improves out of sight and surprises us I.e. the way gutho surprised everyone at 5/8th then yes this is a huge issue
  • I'm pleased you stand by your convictions Brett. I guess we will all see how things pan out once the season kicks off pardon the pun. Thanks for making me aware it isn't union I never would have known.

"Absolutely, Mitchy. Pay, Dymock, Smith, McCracken—The Big Four—added class and steel. And without the SL war, they don't happen for us. IMO, without Walsh, who saved more tries than he scored, the Broncos probably don't win the 2025 GF."
