The bad smell of Parramatta returns

Every year a horrible smell returns to Parramatta. And no, I'm not talking about the river.

Instead, it is the former powers that be of the Leagues Club that refuse to depart like the ghosts of years past.

Leagues Club members were today notified by President Mark Jenkins that these bad faith actors will be tabling proposals at the next AGM in February to roll back all of the strengthening measures relating tot he governance of the club.

In short, they want to:

  • Remove postal and electronic voting.
  • Weaken of Director Eligibility rules, including reversing the member resolution passed at last year’s AGM regarding “fit and proper” individuals.
  • Weaken key safeguards relating to member eligibility and discipline.

These cowards as yet have not openly disclosed who they are, and the club is checking if they can publicly name these people.

However, I'm sure we all have an idea of who they are. It is clear they do not have the best interests of the club at heart, nor do they care about actually running the club properly. They seek independent power.

If any of these proposals were to succeed, it would undermine all of the improvements made in the last decade and could once again lead to the involvement of the NSW Government in the running of our club.

The most concerning part of these proposals is the removal of postal and electronic voting, which would dis-enfranchise 65,000 members.

If you are a 3 years plus continues member of the Parramatta Leagues Club, please vote in the upcoming AGM to reject these proposals.

You can support the club and the current administration by:

Read the AGM Notice and the FAQ when it lands.

  • Vote in the AGM, using the voting pack.
  • Vote against all requisitioned constitutional changes.
  • Keep electronic and postal voting.
  • Keep “fit and proper” rules for Directors.
  • Keep safeguards that protect Members and the Club.

And those that continue to undertake these moves to undermine the club and its ongoing success need crawl back up the pipe of effluence from whence they came.

  • When are these scumbags just go and disappear into the ethos every time the AGM is coming up here we go again . Please get the message just go away you're days are over

    • , including reversing the member resolution passed at last year’s AGM regarding “fit and proper” individuals.....because scumbags.

  • Sorry for the language but for fucks sake can these guys just fuck off already. This is the most ridiculuous proposal to date.

  • Gents, don’t worry. This is Operation Barbarossa without a roadmap.

The Constitution is designed for this kind of attack. Strategically, it's far worse than Lomax’s post-release employment planning.

It's nuisance value at best. Optics of inner discontent. Even in a worst-case scenario, where the group in question one day  bought off and stacked memberships to force a members’ vote over the next few decades or century, they would still fail.

    • Surely they'll be bundied off by then (or most of em) and this 'movement' will be as dead as those who keep bringing this forward.

  • It exemplifies who these people are. This is bordering on unhinged behaviour. You can't reason or negotiate with people such as these. Revoke their memberships, kick them out.

    • Revoke their memberships, kick them out.....This.

      • This dishonest and dishonourable group would have more chance of qualifying for Trumps Troupe than gaining a spot on our board.....chuckle

  • It's amazing what happens when a group of "peaked in highschool" people get fixated on trying to regain the power they had because it's the last time they felt slightly less mediocre. Just imagine if they dedicated this energy and time into something useful for society - they could actually leave a legacy worth remembering in life.

Here's hoping these halfwits keep a close eye on the Tigers, because that's what they're working towards.

Thankfully so far our voting members have been smart enough to see through these idiots thinly veiled attempts to wreck our club out of revenge. Keep up the good work members, let them keep taking swings and misses. Eventually the continual failure will be impossible for them to ignore and see each time they get a glimpse of their own sad reflections.

If you ever start to find yourself reading into their BS just remember - literally every facet of the club has demonstrably improved since they've been gone. On and off the field. We're far from perfect, but we had to work our way out of the absolute gutter thanks to these dolts. Never, ever again.
