I'm interested to hear views on how BA chooses his starting team each week and how he deals with the interchanges. In the last few weeks he has chopped and changed the starting line up. This ranges from Fui, Pauli, being rested last week, Jnr Paulo starts some weeks and others off the bench, Gower starts one week and off the bench the next, same with Terepo and Moeroea. Joe Paulo who seems to play an important part in the team as the middle half also starts some games and some off the bench.
His interchange is also a little puzzling. Now i understand some games require different changes, but he seems to mix this up each week. Tonight Fui played the first 15 minutes and did not come back until 60 minute mark. Pauli was only used in the back half of the 2nd half. Most weeks he changes around the 2nd row but at different stages.
I wonder how this impacts a players confidence? Look at someone like Gower who is by far and away our best forward each week, but played off the bench on tonight's game, our biggest of the year. I also wonder how this effects the team balance when there are constantly different players on at different times and occasionally on different sides of the field (2nd rowers in particular).
I am a massive BA fan but am starting to think this is an area he can work on.
