    • Genuinely curious about what more you wanted from Lomax on the field. Yes, his goal kicking has been down, but other than that he was good. He didn't have the defensive lapses of that last few games (maybe due to Melbourne not sending much his way?) I thought he was pretty good all in all.

I agree on TDS. Late in the game twice on the last tackle he faked to the left and went right. Everyone knew he was going right to Moses side, all he did was slow things down. One was that last play where they tried to barge Paulo over, which was the wrong option, but doens't change the slow service, when Moses needed quick ball to get an attacking kick away.

      • Give Da Silva time, not only has the kid only been here for a month but is 20 and only played 26 NRL games, nowhere near the minutes Smith has had this year. A full pre-season will be better for him of course.

Saying that i will say i felt Ryles should have brought Smith on with about 15 to go to sure up the middle in defence. Melbourne made crucial metres in the middle late and was costly for momentum. Da Silva was fatigued and needs a bit more strength.

    • With Da Silva, i will give benefit of the doubt since he has only been at the club for a month. Give him a full pre-season then see how he develops. Ryles believes in him as by giving him more minutes. Smith is more ready for full-time Hooker and is a better defender but Da Silva shows glimpses in attack and i believe will be the better attacker. We got Da Silva now as he was there ready to get and it's good him getting game time late in the year.

Now i have said my thought on Smith and i have found since Da Silva has signed as competition he has tested himself more like kicking last night. Defensively he is better technique wise. I want to see a full pre-season from Da Silva though before i pass judgement.

  • My takeaway is that there is an overreaction. Did we need front rowers last week when we won? 🤣

    • Good point Under30Eel. A lot of problems when we lose, nothing to see here when we win.

  • We are a team showing growth we aren't all the way there yet but we are on the improve.

    • We lack that player that makes us meters on that first hit up .

We have a young spine we have to give them a chance by laying a platform.

Weve got leg speed already we just need to go to market to get that big dog grunt that starts our sets .

Pay what it takes to get Tino, the damage that Doorey, Williams , Kautoga and Moretti even Junior and Tuivati could do off the back of his hitups would be immeasurable.

Not to mention the forward leadership , starch defense , aggression and ability to offload.

Tino is the answer to so many of the questions around this young Eels team, he'd solve so many of our issues.

We've got enough moneyball forwards time to put the dollars into an Alpha dog.

      • Agree, Bup.

Tino, and if there is no $$$ enticing enough for him, then Koen.

        Either changes things immediately.

Sometimes paying 'overs' to the right player, isn't overs at all.

Only have to look at Stephan Crighton & the massive contract he took to play centre. His value off the field has changed a club.

        • Yep its easy to put a price on players performances but what we sometimes fail to do, is take into account the affect they have on the club off the field driving standards and leadership in training. Really hope we chase a big named middle. Paulo is trying his best but he is past his prime age.

          • Exactly, EA. Perfectly put.

We don't actually have any idea who is worth what, you can't judge that form 80minutes of game time a week.

"It's the same with V'Landys idea to make the GF like a Super Bowl and place it in different states. Yeah it will get a big crowd but it's not the same. You expect fans of a club to travel to say Perth to see their team in a GF? Brisbane is fair…"

"Hell no.
A conference set up in the NRL is stupid.
Keep it as it is and stop trying to Americanise everything.
I for one would quit rugby league if this happens and I know a lot of people who feel the same way."
