Tahu Is a Liability

Im struggling to see the value of Timina Tahu as a centre. How many points have we leaked on his side of the field and further more what has he added to the team in attack. He stands flat footed in the defensive line and attackers fly past him or he rushes out of the defensive line and leaves a big hole in defense. Luke burt cant cover for him hes not much of a defender himself.

In attack he poses no real threat i can only remember him scoring 2 trys all year. The line he runs in attack is hopeless, learn to catch and run between defenders. Our better options are inu and wright in that position. For me Tahu is a liability, I bet brian Smith and some other coaches are licking there lips to throw some attack at him.

  • No No No and in case you missed that No again!!
  • i agree to a degree! but he can defend judt sometimes he does get caught out. but every centre does. there is no centre in the comp that no one gets past! he offers alot in attack. give him early ball and when he has space he runs over people and is not slow. i know he bombed one last night but he is still value! just wish it happened less than it does!

dont bag the T. Johno Wright isnt any better.
    • Johno can be better. Hes tall hard to tackle and can catch a ball with defenders in his face. the second try he scored against the panthers a few weeks back not many centres would have scored that.
  • Your seeing what im seeing donnsta. The pass hayne gave him halfway through the first half when we attacking in the roosters 20m should have been taken and a good centre would have chosen to run betwen the defender not meet him face to face.
  • We need a playmaker but any good playmaker needs a good finisher. we all know hayne is a good finisher but the defence is all over him. We need another strike weapon in the backs and i m sure we have it in Inu but hes wasted on the wings.
  • Sorry . Have to disagree people. I think Tahu has class. To say he is a liability - can't agree. . Have a look at some of the hits he has dished out this year. I don't think he's been at his best since the SOO inicident and not sure if this has affected him. His game against the Dogs was very good and showed he was coming back. To say Jono Wright is better than Tahu - seriously disagree. There are only 3 centres in the game that I rate above Tahu - Inglis, Lyon, and Folau. Tahu may not be playing his best right now, but he is quality.
  • i think he's best days are gone
  • well he definitely is leaking a few points on his side of the field that's for sure and he isn't really doing too much at the moment but I thin a guy of his calibre is only one or two games away. I think we need to put INU on his outside, they seemed to read each other real well in 2007.
  • This could be said for a majority of the side as well yes? I tend to agree also Tahu's form has not been consistent since his return to the game and seems to really struggle against the opposition when players get on the outside of him and you can see Tahu getting frustrated with himself.

The guy like the whole team has really struggled with consistency all year you see him in some games where he is pumped up and has the attitude pulling off big hits and "amping his teammates up" then in other games he goes missing and simply looks disinterested!

IMO there is probably no better player in the game to see in "full flight" than Tahu but like the team all year they have not "clicked consistentl" this year and have really only been good in a handful of matches
  • The statement and question from gonefishing is:- "Tahu Is a Liability" Does any1 agree?

The statement was not:- Tahu is out of form or Tahu is inconsistent, or Tahu is past his best. You could make good arguments to support these statements. However to make the statement "Tahu Is a Liability" is a much stronger statement you are saying that Tahu is:- a hindrance or disadvantage to the Eels, so fair minded people are we a weaker team with TT or without TT. In my Humble opinion we are better with TT than our other centre options (look at all the hate dumped on Jono Wright). TT was great against the dogs and a bit off (like 80% of the team) last night, he is however still a great talent, even if he may be past his best.
