Tahu in the 17 this week??

OK, so Timana has served his penance and is available for selection this week. I guess it's a no-brainer that he will come straight back in to the starting 13 and Wright will resume his duties with Wenty this week.

However, if I was DA, here's what I would do. I'd be tempted to start Tahu on the bench in place of Te Maari. Why? For a few reasons. I think he needs to try and earn that starting spot back again. Also, to give Jono Wright just reward for a fabulous display against the Panthers. But probably the biggest reason I would do it would be to make sure the opening tirades are out of the way before he enters the fray. If he starts, I think Ennis will be in his ear straight away, baiting him about the Origin walkout etc etc and trying to get a bite and see just where Tahu's head is at.

Tahu and Te Maari are of similar body shape and I really believe that Tahu could easily slot in to the backrow and play some minutes there.

  • Yes Wright grabbed a double, but his performance was very sloppy in the first 20, however i think Jono is a confidence player, so his best could come in coming weeks, but i'd chuck Tahu back in, he has been twidling his thumbs waiting to get back on the feild and rip in.
  • I think the addition of Tahu will be a postive, not only for the centre position but also Luke Burt. Say what you like about Wright but his ball skills are not good and Burt has not got any quality ball from him.
  • Yeah, just about the only battle you blokes did win that night... 27-10 to the eels in case you forgot.

Should be another great clash between the doggies and the mighty eels.
  • yes lets put a 300k center on the bench
    • Why not? He can sit beside that $350K prop we've got.

Paying players over-inflated salaries should not guarantee a starting spot. Though in Daniel Mortimer's case it seems to have been the case.
  • Let's get one thing straight here and we are going to state the obvious here because we are all adults here and I hope that the truth aint gonna hurt anyone out there. We have two of the best backs in the world in our team. One is the best player in the world and the other is a world class centre. Mathew Johns once stated that TT is the most gifted player he has ever seen. Tahu is a class centre who would walk into any club or rep side any day of the week and you are telling me that TT should be benched because Wright finally had a good half a game. Wright should consider himself lucky to have made the starting side in the first place. I love the way TT plays the game and he showed the respect he deserves when after a few games back in league he was chosen in the SOO side. He will show all how good he is from this week onwards and then you will all be jumping on the Tahu bandwagon again. I have been on this site for a couple of months now and seen people write crap about players who are out of form but to tell me that TT has not put in since he came back to the eels is incorrect. He has performed as good as can be expected in a side that has been up and down like the wind and now that they have hit some sort of form, the stage is set for TT come out and show all what he has got and he has got it all. Watch TT kill it this week and the rest of the year and please stop writing crap that TT is gone because he is past it.
    • With respect, I think Tahu has been average this year and I think he got his spot in the Origin side on reputation as being some sort of gun defender who was going to stop GI and his crew. Some woeful reads in defence and his ill-discipline V the Knights was virtually inexcusable from a senior player. I appreciate he is coming back from a Union stint but IMO he has a long way to go before he's anywhere near the player he was in 2007. I hope to Jesus, Allah and Buddha you are right and that this week he comes back and starts ripping $hit up for the rest of the season. I will be very interested to see what unfolds.
    • Correct! TT is a class act. We are lucky to have him. Lets just have the halves get him some quality ball and watch him set Burt up. Its all starting to look good now, the other teams are going to feel PAIN!
  • must not have watched the game last week?

that 350K prop was in the run on team.
    • For the first time since what Round 3? And it was a move that backfired. The game changed when Fui came on. You know what I was getting at.
