In a climate where I was turned down for a job with my local council Parks and Garden team for 2 SDRO referred discrepancies on my driving history between 2010-2020, not to mention having all my points and a 10km/hr being the worst of my offences over 20 years, I find it almost impossible to understand that there are people involved in our salary cap and recruitment strategies over the last 2 years still employed at our club. Not only that, these same people will no doubt find equivalent jobs at other professional sports organisations once their time is up here.
It's not unlike Gladys B landing an executive position at Optus while being investigated for corruption, as well as openly and unapologetically declaring she spent 200 odd million and lost the receipts with a straight face.
The sheer talent we've let go over the past couple and the absolute sh1t kickers we've hung on to actually makes me think there are those at the club that don't have our best interests at heart. There's a good phrase, 'stupid or liar', I.e. you don't make decisions like this in executive positions like that without being one of them, and I truly believe in parra's case it's the latter rather than the former.
TO THE DECISON MAKERS:
- Are you telling me that Sivo was worth more than Mahoney? A core part of our 'spine' for years, left over a 50k shortfall, while Sivo earns a reported 200k more? LIAR! Sivo was just as weak when Mahoney left as he is today, we've all thought it for years. No one wanted Mahoney gone.
- You couldn't afford to keep Ray Stone? Tom Opacic? Two crucial components in getting us to the Grand? Didn't Stone score that try V storm to get us into top 4? Didn't Opa sure up our edge defence and for a short time make us look like a team that could actually defend? LIAR! Of course you could!
- There wasn't a place for Papalii? LIAR! He would have stayed, he didn't want to go. Our top 3 week in and week out, something you can't say about any of the crew that took salary cap priority.
- You talked to Lane and thought he's the type of guy that will get us a prem? LIAR! I just watched his weekly presser, boy oh boy what a loser. He thinks he has leadership quals, I think he has single-handedly lost us 4 games this year with handling errors and I don't think there are many that could disagree. My point is though, he doesn't give a sh1t, and you can hear it in his voice and see it in his face, and it's never been different. Who made the decison to make him a leader? I know who, someone who doesn't have the club's best interests at heart.
These decisions aren't stupid, these decisions are malicious and deliberate. These decisions have led us to be the worst team in the comp within 2 years of being the second best team in the comp with arguably a higher ceiling than the best team in the comp.
I used to think Waqa was paid off to lose us games from an unknown entity, his blatant and predictable errors just had a feeling about them. I feel the same way about Lane, you can make those errors a couple times in a single game.. sure, sh1t happens. But to do it week after week, without showing remorse in the weekly pressers, I'm sorry ladies and gentlemen but we have a rat. And trust me, the rats haven't just infaltrated the squad, they're all through the board room and across our managerial team.
Stupid or Liars? They're Liars.

Never underestimate stupidity... its one of the few things that never ceases to amaze me...
Incompetence is hard for some businesses to deal with as they would rather promote up and out rather than address the actual issues/performance/behaviour
You're right. I'm not giving stupidity enough credit. I'm just so angry Seraph!
Spot on Bruno, Mahoney, Papalii and Opacic were keepers and it was obvious that there would be a void in their absence.
Let's hope Ryles has an eye for cerebral players like his mentor in Melbourne does.
🤞 He's got his work cut out for him that's for true.
1 - this is my point

4 - Sounds like a rat to me
5 - I was there and I was one of them chanting. The form lasted one season and his contract was mismanaged
6 - No doubt but again this is my point
Great points Coryn. Particularly with Papali'i in the sense it can relate to the likes of Stone and Opacic. Who is to say Dolphins and Hull KR offered simply $100-150k more and extra years than we did? What would Stone take, $200k for one year? or $300k for 2 years? Or $250k for 2 years even. Should we then go to $400k just to keep him? That would be poor management.
All fair points Coryn. The biggest issue is who we have signed and who we missed out on. We signed Harper when we could of signed Xerri or Alomonti. We signed Hodgson and lussick when we should of signed Egan or Verrills. There's probably more scenarios but we've recruited quite poorly over the last 3-4 seasons.
It's understated how big a loss Ray Stone and Tom Opacic were to our side and they both cost us bugger all.
I agree wholeheartedly
Ads Ray Stone has been injured for most of the time at the dolphins, agree with opacic honest and reliable footballer - Reed on the other hand would have been difficult to keep for 2 reason BA paving the way MA and he was offered the dogs captaincy
