To me the thing that stands out the most in this whole situation is how quickly Ryles moved forward once Lomax asked for the release and slammed the door shut on any return by signing other players to join the squad. This tells me Ryles is pretty big on being bought in and commited to the club. Similar to what happened with Brown, Gutho and RCG, ryles did not stand in their way and basically said there is the door. Hopefully the club stands strong behind Ryles and Lomax has to wait a while to get back into the nrl

The question I'm asking is what happend to Lomax being a happy camper to this wanting to go to r360.
Was it purely money driven
Did he want a new challenge I'm not sure.
You'd love to be the fly on the wall listening here as somethings changed within the club or internally with Lomax.Much like Matto that guy you can't get rid of it's clear he doesn't want to be there but like a bad smell he's hanging around.
I think it all went source for lomax, firstly when BA was sacked but mostly when he realised he was going to play wing and not centre after given an opportunity to nail a centre spot but failing.
I don't think he wants to be a battering ram carrying the ball out of the red zone.
Who knows, Coryn. One thing is clear: He didn't plan his employment after his release agreement all that well.
Apparantely the big transfer fee in the release agreement hinged on his huge R360 offer, now delayed.
His actions, post-Parra and some during his tenue, seem to suggest he thought the "World Was His Oyster" with options to wrestle, fight, play union, cricket or whatever he so dreamed and desired. We saw that with Hayne's NFL dreams. Seems that some of the options Lomax explored (e.g. RU lower offer) collided with reality for him to come back to rugby league. Not many atheletes can become top echoleon elite across multiple sports. Not enough time for one.
The fact he has wanted 3 releases from 3 long-term contracts in 20-21 months, that he agreed to including the "conditional release" he is disputing six week later, threatening legal action over, speaks to the unintended chaos.
Hopefully, he finds his way. At centre or whereever. He's a better winger to me, but good luck. The guy is such a talent. If he ends up at the Storm, he'll need to demonstrate more long-term comittment. I can't see them tolerating similiar nonsense for too long regardless of what he says.
That's exactly right that last comment I mean if you are going to comeback Melbourne or alike is where you go but like you mentioned he better have his head on straight there as they won't be putting up with his shit that's for sure.
First sign of trouble they'll have him out on his arse.
Sad state of affairs as I really think we need him but if he's that divisive good riddance.
very talented guy but obviously is unsettled and doesn't know what he wants to do. Ryles picked up on that pretty quickly and just shoved him out the door basically lol
For Lomax, there is no such thing as long term committment, he has shown that repeatedly. If he does play at Melbourne, I can't see them offering much of a salary for a bloke who may want out of any contract he has committed to. Looks like year to year for him for the foreseeable future.
The fact that he came to us for fewer dollars suggests he was after something bigger all along. Whether that was boxing/wrestling/RU, who knows. Maybe BA was happy for him to persue that and Ryles said no. There's a lot to unpack with Lomax. I just hope he finds whatever he is looking for, because he hasn't looked happy for a couple of years. Maybe a year or two out of the game would do him the world of good.
I'd be interested to know if Schifcofske has been breaking the NRL anti-tampering laws, both old and new. He manages both Lomax and Papenhuizen.
It had been clear for some time that Papenhuizen was not likely to be playing NRL in 2026. Injuries had finally caught up with him and he really looked disinterested in the back half of the year. Schifcofske negotiates for Lomax with Melbourne for months in the background. Gets the release in November, and then waits until new year for Melbourne to 'make an approach to sign Lomax' to replace Papenhuizen, offering him a centre spot and Nick Meaney moves to fullback.
The NRL integrity unit really need to dig deeper into Schiofcofske's dealings and with Melbourne. R360 was never likely to be proceeding in the short term, anyone could see that. I wouldn't be surprised if this has been in planning for a while now.
He was doing well at the club I doubt anyone hated him, r360 looked nice but Lomax was played by his manager not the Club and we gave him the opportunity to comeback. And he can comeback for less money or fuck off.
