STORM GOT OFF LIGHT IN MY OPINION

Two seasons of nrl down the drain, wasted  and yes on paper the storm lost two premierships but in the players eyes they won them and that wont change they have said this .

These players got to live the experiance of a life time winning 2 premierships partying afterwards and all still have there fancy premiership rings, and our boys and the rest of the league get nothing for there efforts in 09,i know it's old news but it still gets to me every week .

In my opinion this storm side should of been torn appart(some say it was, but to me thats BS) this side should be playin for two seasons at the amount they were over the cap they should have to play that amount under the cap .

The storm should be fighting for the spoon this year and made to rebuild there team from scratch IMO

Also just to throw it out there ,im not saying it happens but am just asking the question, could NEWS LTD be tapping players managers phones to help storm with negotiations?lol

  • Hi nathan,

My main "bugbear" I have with the Melbourne $torm at the moment is that I honestly don not and can not believe that they are under the cap.

Yes they unloaded a lot of players, but apart from Inglis who was on good top dollars, how can they say, with STILL having Slater, Smith and Cronk as well as some of the players they do (lets not forget they recently re-signed winger Matt Duffie to a nice contract when he was getting good offers from other clubs, Parra included)?

From memory the $torm were 1.3 million over the cap for 2010 when they were caught and the subsequent audit discovered the years before hand, there had been a gradual ramping up of the amount they were spending over the cap (to get to the 1.3 mill over in 2010 - ie - $900k over in 2009, $750k over in 2008, etc).

That team, in my opinion, is SURELY still over the cap.

With the salary cap increasing in the years to come and with the possibility of further increases if the free to air tv and Pay TV rights increase (ergo the follow on to the clubs from the money the NRL is paid), the situation HAS the potential to get worse.

Now, I will freely admit, that YES, this is all speculation and personal opinion. I do  not have the info that the NRL had, nor am I privvy to the $torm's books .....

    BUT .....

I am sure I am not an island in this thinking, esp when the cheating and lies were so deliberate and calculated (the two contracts and two sets of books). Despite the press releases, such an intricate web HAS to have had the knowledge of the players and their managers too (if you sign two sets of contracts with different dollar values, YOU KNOW that something is wrong).

To paraphrase .... there is (still) something rotten in the state of Denmark ... I mean Victoria!

    • Thank you for your good reply , im not the best writer and am not sure of the responses i will get from writting this ,but it is just something that i think stinks  that its all been pretty much swept under the rug.

I agree with you that they still may be over the cap also.

  • mate, i know and feel your pain, as I am sure most parra fans do ... if not fans of the other teams in the NRL!!
  • Got off light?

C'mon, we all had to endure a St Merge win last year...
