Sterlo's Reservations Over Jennings Signing

As reported earlier, Roosters and Origin star Michael Jennings has joined the Eels in what is a big signing for the struggling club. They've stocked up their forwards but an outside back certainly makes them stronger.Eels legend Peter Sterling told Triple M's Rush Hour he was excited by the signing of Michael Jennings but did have some reservations about what the club needs and wants.“I think they've recruited in an area that needed to be strengthened. [But] the only concern I have is whether they paid overs. I hope the ramifications aren’t going to be too bad in relation to who they lose."Keep an eye on a player they bought in that position - Clint Gutherson. [He's] a really good young player, a good prospect. If he can get his body through the next couple of seasons without injury, he's going to be a really good buy."Sterlo said Parramatta needs Michael Jennings to continue the kind of play we've seen under Roosters coach Trent Robinson."You'll see his involvement a lot more pronounced than when he was back at Penrith. He needs an 'early carry' in just about every game. That's what Brad Arthur will need to encourage if [Parramatta] are to get the best out of Michael Jennings.

I think we all feel the same, it would be a little bitter sweet to gain Jennings and lose Junior.
Junior was already linked to the Raiders before the Jennings signing, the media naturally will cite the Jennings signing as the reason we lose Junior.
The reality is, Junior is already rumoured to have signed with the Raiders so the Jennings signing is a massive bonus, I don't want to lose Junior however the other scenario would of been losing Junior and not signing Jennings.

Everyone knew we needed a centre to complete our backline.

You dont get a world class class for nothing Sterlo and as we've seen over the recent years, potential means little when it comes to winning a premiership.

Pauli has had a good chance over the past couple of years and to date has shown he's not really interested.

Paulo has shown promise and Id be sad to see him go, but if he's gone for the extra money at Canberra then good on him.

Im a big fan of Sterlo but he has a poor record with eels related on field predictions the last decade or two.

HAHAHA he didnt say big loss, he said very disappointing because of the experience he would gain from players like Scott. So he's saying that Pauli needs to learn how to be a good running hard tackling backrower like Scott. Which he isnt now.

We have put a lot of resources into Pauli for little return and while he may come good down the track, the coaching staff made a call. Which probably means he turned up to pre season training with a poor attitude and fitness again.

and when you look at our forwards Id doubt he would have been in the Blue and Gold this Season anyway, unless there were exceptional injuries.
