I could not agree more with what Sterlo said
He's right. We have a very inexperienced team and the only thing that will fix it is recruiting more experience or letting them develop it organically. On the plus side all our remaining players are more experienced than last year. On the downside we've lost five players with 100+ NRL games, including Jennings with 298. However Gower, Takairangi and Terepo weren't in our top 17.
The good news is we still have nine remaining and they are probably all in our top 17, with the possible exception of Cartwright:
1. Gutherson
4. Blake
5. Ferguson
7. Moses
8. RCG
10. Paulo
11. Cartwright
12. Matterson
13. Brown
By comparison Souths only have eight such players, but that includes their entire spine:
1. Mitchell
2. Mansour
4. Gagai
5. Johnston
6. Walker
7. Reynolds
9. Cook
10. Burgess
I think we need to be patient with the group we have. We've come a long way in a short time.
16th-3rd in 2 years.
We are now at the pointy end the little things matter.
Devil is in the details.
Spine continued development and improvement is absolutely the key.Sterlo mentioned this when we have been in control of games against good teams we just haven't iced the big moments.
Are you forgetting we went from like 5th to 16th in a space of a season before your nominated period?
I swear people only see what they want to see, the club has been stagnant now for 4 seasons.
Cheers,
Scott
Yes but we've recovered from that and look where we are now what where we were.
Why do you want to live there.
Coryn why don't you look at how many times the eels beat the top sides in each year they made the finals and then count in those same years how many floggings they got .
Well that's thee ultimate goal isn't it.Its to beat and be able compete with them not continually crying like a baby telling everyone what we haven't done.
But since you like living there I don't think you'll ever change.
Like I mentioned how many times why live in the past look fowards not backwards.
Is this your thought process on here backwards about everything because we've done this, this is what we are.
You said it top sides the Eels are losing against the best in the comp they aren't there yet but you'd be more worried if they were losing against bottom tier sides.
Eels are still in the learning process of winning big games.Wayne Bennett said as much but it seemed like your like the rest of the herd and missed that bit.
We finished last in 18, 5th in 19 and 3rd in 20.
How do you see that as stagnant.
If we finished in the same position every year then yes we were stagnant but as we have improved our position on the ladder every year since 18, that can't be called stagnant.
There were 5 better teams than us last year mate, our placing on the ladder does not respresent the reality.
This teams treading water and will continue to do so this year.
