there's something bigger than football thats about to hit, and it will be worse than the Covid crisis according to experts.

* These prices are now in NZ

* AU prices are rising daily  nudging 3.00 for diesel ⛽️  and 280 super unleaded.

* The government approved the release 20% of its reserve about  762 million litres of petrol and diesel from domestic emergency stockpiles. That’s equivalent to roughly 5 million barrels of fuel.   Thats only 9 days of fuel.

*Australia currently has fuel stocks roughly equivalent to about 30–36 days of petrol.

Food & groceries: Trucks transporting food and other essentials would halt, causing shortages in supermarkets and stores within days.

  • Prices: Expect sharp price spikes for remaining fuel and essential goods.

  • Emergency services: Ambulances, police, fire trucks could be limited if emergency fuel stocks aren’t available.Governments will advise

  • Goverments will tell us not to panic, prepare: Make sure you have enough essentials — water, non-perishable food, medications, and a bit of extra fuel if you drive long distances.

  • Avoid hoarding: Buy what you realistically need for 1–2 weeks; overbuying just worsens the situation for everyone.

  • This is all coming about because Iran has a stranglehold on the shipping lanes in which the US. Trump is asking other countries for assistance.
  • Its going to be like covid all over again.  Without fuel the country stops

    • Tony Abbott was the only conservative government and the wets moderates got rid of him for a socialist liberal P M and Morrison was a dud that couldn't wait to get to Paris to sign up up for the Paris agreement on net zero ,a socialist program

  • Yep, it's getting rough that's for sure! Something Australia hasn't experienced before. Those elderly folk who went through the great depression and WW2 would have some idea but most Aussies wouldn't. This will test us and it's time to stick together and help one another

    • Mallee57

I have some sad news for you Mallee, us elderly folk didn't live through the "great depression" and most of the second world war survivors would be too old to remember.

welcome to 2026......the great depression was 1930 odd and the 2nd WW 1945....thats just shy of a 100 years and 80 years respectively.......even Daz, who personally knew Karl Marx never actually met him.....until he reincarnated.

      • Yep, your correct with those dates etc... Do think however that the children of those who had their parents go through WW2 or the Great Depression would have been brought up on a tight budget and to appreciate the simple things of life? Just a thought. My dad served in WW2 and my parents were both in London during the times it was bombed

  • Gonna have to Flintstone the car after filling the tank yesterday. $130 for a standard 91 tank of petrol.

    • $2.65/litre 98 RON for $131 tank.

ICE cars will ruin the weekend

      • Before the Iran rubbish I was paying $2.62 for 100 octane fuel for my car here. Now in the space of 2 weeks the price for the above mentioned is $3.52 a litre.

        • Not here Coryn.  It was $1.60 in Sydney for 98.  Now $ 2.70

You nz boys paying crazy money

          • Our fuel is heavily taxed 44% of the pump price goes straight into the government coffers.Even then the oil companies are still making money hand over fist.

            • Australia's fuel excise is a federal tax on petrol and diesel, currently sitting at over 50 cents per litre (52.6 cpl as of early 2026

You think you're government is bad
