Is Sky News reporting this?
Norway’s Ministry of Finance projects that tax revenue from oil and gas will be a staggering A$127 billion or around $23,500 per Norwegian citizen in 2023 alone.
In stark contrast, Australia’s oil and gas industry received billions of dollars worth of taxpayer-funded subsidies and the huge surge in revenue to the industry has not resulted in a similar jump in tax revenue.
Seriously?
No offence EE but you are well off the mark on what you are saying.
Blaming the current government is either a cop out or a LNP supporter still not happy they got wiped out.
Facts are, 99% of Australians housing and financial problems are on John Howard's head.
Well if you look at the last election results, and where the opposition stood they need an epic "babies overboard" case to stir the shit up.
not saying that all the ppl planning to march are as disgusting as that lie ...but opp needs something to stir discontent. Awhile back, we always knew when Howard's govt elections were looming by watching tele ads months before around similar situ remember the " be alert but not alarmed" slogan. haha
The housing crisis is only crisis if you don't have a house.
What has caused houses to explode in price has multiple causes.
First we moved from 1 income families to 2 income families and childcare is now normal. More $ in the family budget meant more $ to spend on a house. Price goes up.
Second - Government handouts for first home buyers. More $ in the family budget more $ to spend on a house. Price goes up
Third - Housing Investment " A second house " became a real thing to families that were just ahead a bit. More people in the market more price of a house goes up.
Fourth - Immigration is great for the economy, more people means more demand for goods and services, the economy grows. It also means more people competing for housing, price goes up.
Fifth - The removal of using our natural resources for cheap energy, means energy to produce things and household bills have sky rocketed. People need to make more money through wages. Increased wages and materials means tradies charge more. House being built cost more price goes up
6th - Govt taxes on just about everything has increased massively from car regos, insurance levies, housing levies, DA levies, fuel, vehicles, tools, imports, licences, tradies have to charge more to cover small business costs, red tape, office work and documentation has increased massively with govt interbvention and new laws. to cover this tradie shave to charge more, house prices go up.
There are heaps more issues but the point is. Government can help solve the housing crisis by making all those things listed cheaper.
Provide and release the land that govt already over sees. Saturate the land market on the fringe or towards country locations. Eliminate or reduce small business burdens and red tape. Eliminate or minimise the heavily taxed system on everything. Bring back cheap energy. prices by using our natural resources.
By flooding the market with cheap housing on the fringes towards country locations will immediatley set in motion a way to fix the housing problem and reduce house prices, but then again if you own a house you don't want house prices to fall. interesting conundrum.
I don't care which party is governing, they just need to do a great job at solving the problems.
You cant handle immigrants coming to this country legally yet expect Palestinians to accept having their homeland stolen/ethnically cleansed. Absolute hypocrisy at its best. The truth is you just want a White Australia so just say it. You cant say it though because deep down you know youre forefathers raped and stole this land. Lmaooo white Australians are illegal immigrants aswell when you go back far enough.
Ill say this proudly im the son of an immigrant. Pay my taxes and work like a dog. Never been in trouble with the law and will never feel the need to prove my Aussieness to bigoted hyprocrites like so the people here.
😂 Bro their is absolutely Zero ethnic cleansing and it's not their land to begin with. Please do some correct research. Nobody is saying we want a 'white Australia' We just don't want Australia to become a 3rd world nation sxit hole where immigrants don't want to assimilate and contribute. If your not happy with what the Colonisers brought to Australia then the simple solution is that you give it all back, go live in the outback and hunt for roos, drink from the billabong, and boil the billy. Let me know how that goes
I was in the city with my wife the day these majority of uneducated people had the first celebration protest of October 7th. We could hear them from blocks away and thought we would go and have a look. I was in my naive mind expecting some anti Hamas slogans or rhetoric from the people holding court with megaphones. What I noticed and have continually noticed is the lack of accountability for there " leaders " who were not voted in by the way but seized the state. The reactions from these protesters , actions and attitudes are deplorable in the main.Although I feel for the innocent in Gaza " I truly do " and Israel are far from innocent and even as recently as yesterday cause more atrocities to innocent people. If we to the history of this region, Palestinian people have had many chances to quell war and violence but have past up these opportunities. Ancient history tells as more in this unsettling story. But in saying that, these protests need to focus on the head of the snake that injected its venom into these events that started these unrelenting protests. Most of these protesters either born or recently arrived, grandparents, parents came here for a reason. For a better life!!! Or escape the actual regime they fled by proxy. This is not the Australia I remember and not one I wish to raise my kids. And yes the government should be held accountable for this. The support for a terrorist state all to appease a minority due to protecting self interests by playing domestic politics is disgraceful. Support the innocent in Gaza but denounce Hamas. Failing to do so equates to supporting terrorism. I will be attending this protest proudly as an Australian and a person quite frankly who is well and truly over the contsant abuse of our democracy. BTW spray painted on our harbour bridge after the pro Hamas rally was written " death to Australia " yeh! I will be there.
Im just too stuffen old and tired of all this crap . All i can say about all the comments on both sides is . It aint the Australia i was born and grew up in No Moore and i know it's Not Orfff season just yet . Sir Col and my old twin the Slugg will be up there shaking their Heads
