St George Illawarra have landed a huge recruitment scalp by securing Australian star Keaon Koloamatangi to a long term near $5 million deal.
It is understood that Koloamatangi has told the Dragons he will join the club from 2027 on a five year deal. The contract is now in the cooling off period.
It is a clear circuit breaker for the Dragons who were in the market for a marquee player.
Koloamatangi’s current club South Sydney wanted to secure him as did Parramatta.
The Dragons though look set to land the prized recruit after gazumping the Eels and Rabbitohs with a monster five year deal
MORE TO COME

We spoke to Iongi same time Penrith signed Talagi. Also, when Talagi left we knew Brown had options but believed he would stay put.
Had Brown made his choice earlier or instead of a PO we had Talagi signed I reckon Blaize stays as the 6
Do you understand offering a position is a selling point. What else could Ryles do offer a bench spot?? Iongi was always destined for fb in my books
Yes agreed if Brown made the decision earlier
Ummm yes that is how negotiations work, what are you getting at? He wanted Talagi as 1 as Brown was still under contract and wanted his spine sorted. When Talagi said he was going Iongi deal was done quickly.
There is no way of knowing that Iongi wasn't privately in negotiations with Parramatta whilst we were negotiating with Blaze. Nobody knows who Ryles really wanted at fb, and i very much doubt Ryles wanted Blaze there. He isn't the quickest player in the world.
Id say the Blaze to fb was just a selling point, whilst Iongi was always Ryles first choice.
My answer was to Fong initially
Samething here to is it a blight on Moses and Ryles that Talagi picked the Clearys over us.
The question still remains we went for Galvin and failed now we are stop gapping with Pezet because of the options left in the Brown contract that allowed Newcastle to offer what they did. This is the mess that is Parra recruitment and retention.
Why are we falling over when we offer top dollar to good players on the market what are we missing until we answer this quandry all the rest is sermantics. Why can't we close deals.Galvin now Kolomatangi Bennett before that I mean surely you can see this.Been telling you this shit for 3-4 years different coach same shite but nothing to see here apparently.
Fong, when you say that do you believe Ryles could never sell his vision or do you think it is since he is new to coaching FG? If the former then we have an issue.
I think is due to being inexperienced and he is not what you would call a great talker , but his biggest issue are the people above hin who offer him zero .
Though I will say Fong, when I spoke to my mate who works with James Galvin, they said James and Lachy found Ryles to be very well spoken and impressed with what he offered. When I asked about MON he said they said nothing about him just Ryles. Said they felt Parra are in great hands with Ryles.
It was Vella and Ciraldo and Dogs good year that got him there.
I've heard the same.I had a coffee with Blair Mills at the hurricanes training base and he spoke of JR very highly even thought Nathan Brown behind the scenes around pathways was very clued up in that area but you wouldn't let the latter near FG to old school and thinks the players wouldn't respond well to him.
