St George Illawarra have landed a huge recruitment scalp by securing Australian star Keaon Koloamatangi to a long term near $5 million deal.
It is understood that Koloamatangi has told the Dragons he will join the club from 2027 on a five year deal. The contract is now in the cooling off period.
It is a clear circuit breaker for the Dragons who were in the market for a marquee player.
Koloamatangi’s current club South Sydney wanted to secure him as did Parramatta.
The Dragons though look set to land the prized recruit after gazumping the Eels and Rabbitohs with a monster five year deal

They've already gone out and bought Gutho Val Cookie and now Keon on decent money. It takes more then just buying random players to build a culture. Their halves are Atkinson and Flanno and 35 year old Gutho is the fullback 😂 club is going nowhere

Dragons are a basket case. Flanno is at desperation stakes to save himself. Almost got the spoon this season
That's exactly what it is, he's looking to buy any name value player he can and hope it turns the club around. But it takes alot more then that to change a club
Gutho was an ok buy for what they needed. They could have done worse. He still played some alright footy this year. Dragons have some alright kids coming through in their forwards but the one thing letting them down and lets teams like Canterbury and even Cronulla down is not having a Halfback.

Flannagan is overrated and too old school. He has some good coaching skills for sure but I reckon Ryles has a better method, style and approach. I don't KK will make that much of a difference at the Dragons. Apparently Souths aren't waiving the 10 day cooling off period so maybe he won't be going to the Dragons yet.
I think flanno is a pretty good coach but he basically needs an allstar team to get wins. Doesn't seem like he's a good development coach,
Or a doping program...he goes good when his guys are on the gear
Basically needs an all star team to win, all coaches win with an all-star team.
Bloke still won a comp, no matter what team you have you still need a good coach to win it all.
