  • And with Dom Young heading there, which winger is surplus? Sualli is there for another year right? Does this mean he goes early, or shifts to centre. They will have 3 wingers on their books next year.

    • I'm confused with your comment here. Smith is a centre, Roosters have 4 wingers in Tupou, Suaalii, Young and Lewis Murphy. With the recruitment of Young it's likely they roll with Manu and Suaalii in the centres.

I don't see them releasing anyone early. Murphy and Young in particular given they are very much project players for the Roosters.

  • Dont mind this

  • I thought Arthur had nothing to do with recruitment?

    • He doesn't handle recruitment on his own. He's still involved, he's the head coach.

    • Or did you think he was the only one involved in recruitment and just ran around with the club chequebook?

      • Cmon mate, you know very well that people have been suggesting this squad isn't his - stop being deceptive

I asked a straight up question that I just so happened to know the answer of.

So next time some F wit says Arthur has not signed off on this team - I'll present this blog.

        • Of course he approves and rejects player signings. It doesn't mean he doesn't have to settle for the players he can get.

Arthur: "We need another middle worth $400k to $500k"

O'Neill: "Taupau is available. Happy with him?"

          Arthur: "Sounds good"

          ....

O'Neill: "So he went with the Broncos even though they haven't won a finals match since 2017. We'll see if anyone suitable gets shopped around midyear."

          ....

O'Neill: "Ofahengaue is available. Happy with him?"

          Arthur: "Sounds good"

          • And your point is?

Sounds to me thats exactly how most recruitment decisions are made, just like this, so Arthur is no different to say a Bennett or a Bellamy. You don't always get the first choice.

            It's his team end of....

            • So the point is none of them get the team they want, but that doesn't mean their teams are equally good. For example Ricky Stuart won a premiership at Easts and a wooden spoon at Parra. At Canberra his results are middle-of-the-road. It's not because he was a great coach at the start of his career then became a shit coach and now is an average coach. It was all dependent on the resources at his disposal.

They are all also scared that if BA is punted he will take MA. Who gives a shit, take him and any other BA bum boy.
