"Some players need to get sacked from a club and risk losing it all before they really knuckle down and put in the work. Why did he get sacked, was it lack of discipline for footy and training or off field issues?"

Ricky Stuart made a big deal of using a sports psychologist and it didn't seem to help a lot.
My understanding is hypnotherapy makes more of a difference to sports where you require concentration - golf, cricket, etc. Rugby League where it's so much quick-thinking I don't know if it has the same impact. Although, I guess there could be a use in terms of concentration and staying in the game.
Thurston apparently used a sports psychologist and reckon it helped him a lot.
With the hypnotherapy, it may not help as much, however it could help in terms of making smarter "in the moment" decisions. Also the study I read about hypnotherapy compared Basketballers who were receiving hypnotherapy and those who weren't, the study showed that the players who recieved the hypnotherapy played smarter and in the end won most the games (with many played over many days) against team who had no hypnotherapy.
Bring back the biorhythmists.
But what if that consistent footy was consistently bad footy?
hahaha :-)
Why not, I'm all for anything that will help... we may have to threaten them with the Wests face slapp thing, bet that'll spur them into making the sports psych work!
