*OFFICIAL* Spencer Leniu joins the Eels

Parramatta Eels are excited to announce the signing of premiership-winning forward Spencer Leniu on a four-year contract commencing in the 2027 NRL season.
One of the game's most dynamic and impactful middle forwards, Leniu brings an outstanding experience to the Blue and Gold, including four NRL premierships, State of Origin honours for New South Wales, and international representative experience with Samoa.

At just 26 years of age, Leniu has already established himself as one of the competition's premier enforcers, renowned for his explosive carries, physical presence and ability to change the momentum of a match.

Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O'Neill said securing a player of Leniu's calibre was a major boost for the Club's future.

"We're thrilled to have Spencer join the Parramatta Eels and become part of what we're building at this Club. He's one of the elite middle forwards in the game and has consistently performed on the biggest stages throughout his career.

“We're excited to welcome Spencer and his family into the Eels community. We know he'll make a tremendous contribution both on and off the field, and we can't wait to see him in Blue and Gold,” said O’Neill.

Leniu will join the Eels squad for pre-season training later this year.

  • We finally sign a decent forward and some of the comments here are so negative. Fk this place is so depressing...

    • 100 💯 cp

    • Inbreds always find something to complain about. They are nothing but a joke of a person.

  • One thing for sure, he can keep his mouth shut. Luke Keary asked him weeks ago about it, to which he responded it was news to him. Big kudos for him there.

    Finally some good bloody news!!

    • Made Keary look like an idiot.

But he's also very much a man of his word and also when the whole Mam thing happened, he said Mam called him a coconut first but kept it to himself as what happens on field stays on field.

He is all about justice to those who do him wrong but he is also loyal. Ryles could get a lot out of him.

  • Imagine being told at the start of 2026 that you'll sign Jaydn Su'A, Jahrome Luai and Spencer Leniu.

Low key good work. Get the left centre now and Ryles has the tools.

  • In 3 years time,  id much rather have a 29 year old Spencer than a 32 yo Keon

Best thing about Spencer is that it certain his best years are in front of him.

    • The only difference between the 2 is one's a pack leader and the other isn't       YET that's what we have to hope for that impact has to turn into workrate for 60 minutes not 30-40.

Kolomatangi imo is the better prop of the 2 if your asking to build a pack round a alpha.

      • We can agree to disagree there Coryn, I am agreeing with Chiefy on this one, I saw Keon's form for Souths as pretty ordinary and I am glad we didn't pay the rediculous 1.3 plus for him. (>950 cap and 500 tpa).

Personally I cannot see why Lienu can't be a 40/60 minute middle, he has been treated as a 20 minute prop because of the players around him, in stronger clubs. It is going to be of course what he wants (whatever that is). I am convinced he left Roosters because of his onfield time, he left Penrith for money and he is coming to Parra to prove himself.

To quote the Emporer we will watch his development with great interest.

        • Agree, while I would've been happy if we'd signed Keon. I much prefer Spencer and if we'd had to beat Dragoons OTT contract for Keon, I think it would've been a mistake.

Personally I hope Ryles starts Spencer for 20 then subs him for Junior then back again for the last 20.
Asides from Spencer I'd like to see Big Sam and Hopgood starting and finishing games in the middle with Doorey, Kautoga and Junior rotating through the middle section of the game.
