Happy new year everyone. Hoping you all had time well spend with loved ones over the Christmas and New Year break.
Just wondering if anyone saw the article about a week ago about Spagnolo reapplying for a board position at the Leagues Club and Eels?
For anyone saying that its time to replace the board, seems like now would be an opportune time as there is an AGM in the coming months. If members were to show support and cast their votes, there could potentially be a change.
Think what you will about him, he is a diehard Eels fan which is more than what I can say about the current administration. I have no doubt that his passion for the Eels is self serving, but at least it is there as opposed to the current milquetoast board.
There is a link on the Daily Telegraph but its behind a paywall. I have a photo of the actual article that I will share for everyone to read.
Could this be the shake up needed to kickstart things? Is our X-factor actually someone off-field? Is the idea of Spagnolo returning a good thing or a bad thing?

He had an opportunity and fucked up real bad....also I would be surprised given his past involvement if he would be allowed to stand.
I am not disagreeing that the current board is now somewhat dated by the circumstances of natural progression but we are so far ahead of where we came from it is no longer the joke we once were.
You are right the X factor maybe off-field, but that x factor needs to be a CEO i.e Frank Ponnissi style not a fucked up has been that just about destroyed the club. Given that only three directors can be selected in any one cycle would mean that Spagnolo could only have limited support and again I stress, it would make the look of Parramatta looking back not forward.
I am surprised this style of thinking (Spagnolo) would seem to have some support, please don't tell me my football club is going to a new world order, its bad enough that we have the woke movement trying to fuck everything without the fascist alternative getting a gig as well.
I dont know if there is genuine support or not.
I do know that from the top down the organisation is a trainwreck of a dumpster fire. If anyone manipulative and rich enough were to try and make a move, there is a probability of success
Spagnolo is about as good for our club as Lee Hagipantelis was for the Wests Tigers. Being a 'die-hard fan' is completely irrelevant to being a good Director. In fact, having super fans in the Board room can be a disaster.
Its not April 1 its NYE. The guy is a sham and put us at the brink in 2016...A very Bad Thing ...Cmon
I wonder how many more memberships Spagnolo has bought ? Before he needed all members to be present to vote for him which was always difficult , now it's all done online so ihe gets all the votes he's paid for .
Could the shit be returning ? 🤣🤣🤣
It very well could be. And from what I have heard from friends they are nervous it could become a reality.
To clarify, I dont care either way. The world will continue to spin whatever the outcome. I just dont want to club to be the butt of the joke anymore, and the only way that will stop is a premiership and even then, it would probably still continue
Hmmm I'm thinking you do care. Btw you can dislike the current management all you like. They're not beyond criticism for sure. But to suggest Spagnolo is the answer shows a spectacularly short memory.
I wasn't suggesting that at all, and maybe I should have clarified - I dont care who sits on what board, things will be what they are regardless of what I may or may not want. I was more curious of what others thought about the issue considering I only joined the forum a year ago well after the Spag era
Bring back Fitzy!!!
Can reapply by all means. Doesn't mean you will get in. We knock our club at times but aren't dumb enough to go down that route again.
