Sivo looks to take up lucrative offer

SIVO SET FOR SHOCK CODE SWITCH

Parramatta winger Maika Sivo is reportedly considering a shock defection to French rugby union.

News Corp reports the 28-year-old is being offered the chance to quit the NRL after next season for a pay day in Europe.

Another Fijian-born Eels winger, Semi Radradra, moved to Toulon rugby union after the 2017 NRL season.

Sivo is contracted for another two years but the 2023 season marks an option in his favour and he could leave for the 15-man game.

Sivo is set to earn $400,000 at the Eels next year and would attract a more lucrative offer in France.

The rumour mill already has a replacement lined up at Parramatta should Sivo depart, with Canberra’s Bailey Simonsson named.

Meanwhile, Eels forward Marata Niukore is ready to leave for the Warriors and the deal is almost done.

The Auckland-born Niukore reportedly wants a return home to New Zealand when his Eels deal expires after next season.

  • Simonsson is interesting, but will that be for this year or 2023 for Simonsson? Prefer to let Sivo go now since he will miss half of 2022.

    • I think he is terribly overrated. He has had a fair bit of time in first grade and has stagnated.

    • Apart from their natural talent, they also love them because they rarely lose them to international duty. Even in Yawnion, Fiji don't play a lot of internationals the way the Tier one nations do.

  • I wouldn't bother with committing to Simonsson or any other winger yet till we see what we have in Russell, Loizou & Naiduki.

  • We should definitely cut ties with Sivo if he asks for a release. He seems to be going backwards fast. bye

    • He's not asking for a release, he's just probably not going to exercise his option for 23.
What is it with you and this anger towards players who dare to explore other options ?

Why do you take it so personally ?

Why are you such a bitter human being, not enough hugs as a child ?

      • Why do we have to love Players unconditionally?   It's ok to not wanna blow players yaknow. Players earn respect ,if they don't , they simply don't.  For me Sivo has been a lazy bum , if he wishes to release articles about him wanting to explore other options when he hasn't even given us an ounce of value for the 800k he'll get for 21/22 yet then I day he can get fucked also.

        • I'm not saying you do, but as soon as a player even hints at looking at his options, as everyone else is entitled to do in life, you and Chief get your pitchforks out as if the player in question is violating your wife's arse with a pineapple, and making you watch!!!

          • I certainly don't  agree with you all the time Mr Allen, but you've  hit the bullseye here.

          • Nope , not at all. I wished Will Smith well. He gave his all, however if we've thrown the player a lifeline , paid them a decent wage and have made them a decent offer , yeah my opinion maybe that they can go and get fucked for all I care. Ditto for players who are yet to benefit with full pay utilising our rehab program and is already putting the feelers out for post rehabilitation offers. Especially when they were playing like he was annual leave post injury.

I don't owe Sivo my well wishes.  I've never said Mahoney owes me anything either.
