I have my doubts about Sivo's attitude and willingness to compete on every play.
He was in the clear during the Tigers match coming off our line, I was waiting for him to charge but instead he jogged at half pace and took the tackle, I thought this was odd for a man who possesses size and speed.
He literally stopped half chase when Ponga was in the clear, he was never going to catch Ponga but at NRL level, you chase to the end. Anything could happen, Ponga could do a hammy, slip, have a brain snap, anything can happen. I don’t see NRL players giving up mid chase. Poppa did mention this in another post, I was watching the game with a fellow Parra fan, we didn’t discuss the try, we both found it odd that an NRL player stops chasing his opponent. You just don’t see it at this level.
Adam McDougal wasn’t the biggest or the most gifted player, but he was ferocious with runs and competed on every play. I remember watched this guy play live and thinking, “who would want to tackle that”
Michael Hanock was a winger who was offended when tackled, he fought for every inch and chased his opponents into the dressing room, again, not the biggest or most talented, but he was player like Mad Dog who rose to great heights because of his win at all costs attitude. I don’t see this in Sivo.

Yeah something is not right with Sivo. I’m not doubting his ability or desire just questioning why he pulls up mid stride?
Maybe he’s carrying some kind of leg strain and is scared to stretch it out - truth is we don’t know, but if he isn’t carrying something then those two efforts you point out simply aren’t good enough and BA needs to put the question to him.
Hey Frank, there's been no mention of an injury, but I hope this could be case. It would explain his unwillingness at stages in games.
As Michael pointed out, plenty of upside but you wonder what could be with a bit more mongrel and a never say die attitude.
I think there may be a combination of perhaps a slight injury issue, probably a little lack of fitness (the reports pre season was that he was coming last in the fitness tests) and possibly a little ‘Fiji time’ type attitude of he thinks something is a lost cause.
Still close to the line he is next to unstoppable and he appears to be very good defensively. He reads the attack well and pulls off some big hits.
He is leading our carry metres most weeks too.
Plenty of upside
i don’t disagree though, this is the NRL not rugby sevens and he has to be told that he needs to at least look like he is trying on every play.
Good observations Michael, I don't think he's carrying an injury, "Fiji Time" it appears so. The club needs to address his attitude in order for Sivo to reach his limitless potential
I sure as shit dont know if hes carrying injury. But what i do know is that you sure as shit have no idea if hes carrying an injury either
every first grader with 6 games experience has a lot to learn . Id say mostly his body and fitness levels have to adjust to the grind . Not like he’s going through the motions out there pumping out close to 200 m most games .
His defence has been brilliant . Knows when to come in , knows when to stay out . He’s a better defender than Semi was in his prime . Best defensive winger we’ve had in a long time .
His concentration and fitness will improve as he goes on. he’s been great .
Mate if anyone deserves some time, it’s Sivo. He’s literally fresh off the boat mate, he hadn’t held a steden until the beginning of last year.
I think he has been a breath of fresh air. Enjoying watching him play
He seems like he has heaps of potential BUT it looks like hes carrying some type of injury. He cant run as fast as I thought he might.
That jog in the Tigers game was wierd. I got all excited as it was reminiscent of a Semi length of the feild try moment. I was like, lets see what you've got Sivo. When ever you see a winger in space it's exciting. Sadly he had nothing.
