Sivo free to play

Parramatta Eels winger Maika Sivo will be free to play pending the outcome of his court date on February 17.

The Fijian will therefore be available to travel to Perth for the NRL Nines across February 14-15.

Meanwhile Panthers half Tyrone May will be suspended for five games following his conviction over filming sex acts without consent.

Josh Reynolds is also free to play whilst his domestic violence case is ongoing, as is Curtis Scott. The newly-recruited Canberra centre has been asked to provide more information to the NRL Integrity Unit before Monday 10 February if he wants to avoid suspension.

  • After what is happening in the Josh Reynolds case and previous cases such as Semi the NRL are going to have to revisit their no fault policy.

With the amount of vexatious claims being made by women against footballers this policy is causing damage to players reputation.

They should stop trying to play god and let the court run it’s course. It is nothing but virtue signalling by Beattie and Greenberg

    • Could not agree more John; it is a very grey area and while i can see merit with the nrl there are too many issues such as this mentioned.

      • Mitchy are we going to get a junior game at Wyong this year. Would like to catch up

        Bateau Bay even better

        • Thanks John I would like that mate; i will check the A Johns / Fitttler schedule and let you know. I am not sure if Matts and Ball play up here? I will message you about this.

    • To my understanding the no fault stand down policy is only for charges that can lead to a sentence of 11 years or more.

      • Raiders season rapidly turning to shite.  Scott will be stood down, John Bateman went to hospital this week for shoulder surgery, and out indefinitely, Sebastian Kris off on indefinite sick leave (rumoured mental), and mucho preseason training disrupted by the worst smoke pollution in the country.  If George Williams doesn't fire, they're well and truly cooked!

        • It gets better than that. Rapana is gone, as is BJ Leilua. Scott might not play this year....assaulting a police officer is a very, very serious offence. He could  legitimately do jail time if found guilty. Therefore,  huge change to their outside backs and they have lost a lot of fire power.

Throw in a new No 7 who hasn't played in the NRL before, Ricky Stuart as the coach, Josh Hogson's injury proness and the fact it's the unreliable Raiders, I think we might see them miss the top 4.

          • Stuart got them to the GF.  Not bad for the team with the lowest income in the NRL...

          • A question but has any NRL players done time? Besides that Newtown player who was caught smuggling in smack and ended up in a jail somewhere overseas, Hewson I think his name was and died off AIDS in the 80s, anyone else done time? Hayne might...didn't Ryan Tandy do time?

            • Heaps have Paramaniac. A couple of recent examples include Danny Wicks, Russell Packer and Manu Mau.

Haha, yeah. Sanders cost us 12-18 points. But he's still young, got loads of potential, time to work on his game and between the ears.
He seems to get frazzled when pressured. Like he's rushed for time, rather than slowing down time…"
