Signing Thurston

Ok, as I guess everyone saw, Parramatta is interested in signing Thurston, especially since his incidents up in Queensland. So, I have 2 questions to pose to the forum. Firstly, what is the chance we will sign Thurston (i.e - do u thinkg we'll sign him), and secondly, if we do sign him, what will our halves and 'spine' and the team be (i.e.- numbers 1, 6, 7, 9 , 14).

For me, I think we will sign JT (a friend tells me Orford is going to Canberra, not Parra), and I think it will be

1=Hayne

6=Mortimer

7=JT

9=McGuire

14=Mitchell

  • Thurston wont leave Cowboys. Why would he leave North Queesland where he gets very little media attention and come to a club like Parra which is hounded by the press all the time?
  • cowboys shot 1st and didnt seem too interested in what really happened with JT.

    JT may return serve and jump ship.
  • I hope we sign him
  • Hmm I would rather Thurston stay at the Cowboys, but at the same time he is the face of their club and they have not performed well with him as their role model and captain, maybe they do believe they need to start fresh?
  • guys stop getting your hopes up every time Oberlointment writes :) LOL
  • we dont want/need him at the eels.. more trouble than he is worth
  • no way JT is a class half
  • I'll play the game Michael if we sign him and i read somewhere SK wants B Murray at 5/8 so i say the 1 6 7 9 14 will be .........
    1 J Hayne
    6 B Murray
    7 J Thurston
    9 D Mortimer
    14 A Mitchell
    Kinda gives ya a chubby hey!
  • How could you not want JT in the team, he is the most talented 7 in the game and with some good direction and fitness people he would be unstoppable
  • That would be my line up slippery. I can't wait to see Humble given a fair go next year I reakon he will be sensational for the Eels. If he dosn't get a good run next year I think he will return to the Cowgirls and that would be a huge loss. With a good half, the pressure will be off him and he can cut loose. Has great speed and not a bad kicking game.

"I have no doubt Ryles would be interested.
One thing about Fifita that often gets lost in the narrative is he's a quality defender.
Hes big and agile , exactly the type of player Ryles would be after.
This is another  player you could possibly do a…"

"Rushing him back via the bench though. Johns and Lockyer brought up his form is not up to scratch for a little bit. Could it have been Holbrook being sacked that hindered him? He like Holbrook, nearly going to Roosters where he is assistant.

"He wont leave QLD. Already been down that track with his backing out of the Roosters deal. If he won't perform for $1m a season, why would be perform for $600 or $700 K. I don't seem him fitting the culture and type of effort players Ryles clearly…"
